John,you guys are really getting the hang of collecting knives.

Picked up this toenail/sunfish at the Parker Show.

Here is one of my favorite Folding Hunters. A NYK 186 pattern. The etch is still lightly visible on the blade. I've only seen 1 or 2 others of this pattern in my years collecting.

NYK has got to be right up there as best design and construction of early knives.

That Teardrop and it actually is a true Teardrop with the indents on the sides, not straight-sided, just like a drop of liquid would stretch out just before falling from whatever it was attached to, (get the picture?), is a fantastic knife.

I love that little bird's head effect on the bottom bolster of the folding hunter.

And, that's another great toenail, Peanut.

Good observation, Charlie. I have never looked at a teardrop pattern like that before, even though it is one of my favorites.

Wayne I found a brother to your 186 folding hunter.It also has some etch remaining.

Roger they look like twins. Great snag!

You can find a NYK 185 pattern floating in the bay most any time. They are a handsome knife but that 186 pattern is far more elusive.

Wayne does yours have a tang stamp?This one has no sign of being stamped on the front but has a deep 186 on the back.

No tang stamp. Has a NYK with hammer blade etch and 186 on the pile tang. I've always figured this correct for the knife but good to have another example to confirrm.

Wayne and Roger - those "twin" hunters are awesome ....
