I found a pallet today in the warehouse where I work. The wood wasn't the usual pine. I sanded down a board. It looks like mahogany to me, what do you think? Can I use it for handles?

I cannot identify mahogany from the grain, but it looks like it would make beautiful knife handles!

If the pallet originated in South America, it could be mahogany. When I worked in a general equipment rental business (Taylor Rental Center), I had a customer rent floor sanding equipment to sand a mahogany floor he had salvaged from South American pallets. He planed and tongue & grooved the boards himself, but didn't own floor sanding equipment

By the way, the video was made with the help of an association of Bulgarian history enthusiasts. They often hold meetings and historical reenactments. All the weapons in the video are authentic from the 19th century.
