Schatt and Morgan, Titusville Pa. 1903 - 1933

Schatt & Morgan knives were first manufacturer back in 1890. The Queen Cutlery company made most of the more recent examples, but Schatt had its own plant in its earlier years that cranked out the oldies. There is no shortage of fantastic Schatt & Morgan knives in existance that have been made over the brand's long & storied history.

Pray tell, what is a "Gimp" shield, or at least why is it called that? ::shrug:: Thanks! ::handshake::

I honestly don't know Marco!! Most shields you can kinda see how they got their name. I do know that, that shield has been called a "gimp" since the 70's at least when I got into collecting. GEC calls it a "Banner" which makes some sense to me. I've been searching for a list of shields with names and diagrams for a while now and can't seem to locate a good one. I know I've seen one before but can't remember where and can't find it again! ::shrug::
Levine's #4 only shows 3 shield with names on pg 13. A Crest, gimp and a bar. I asked the list question on the General forum but so far no luck. ::tear::

Thanks for trying all the same, Dave! ::handshake::
I have something rattling around in my head that's telling me you might have seen a list of shields with diagrams right here in a forum, but I can't be certain it was here. ::hmm:: You'd think that since the term "Gimp" shield has been around since the 70's, there would be piles of information about it somewhere. Good luck with your search! ::tu::
