KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY

Checked the local pawn shops today and got these. The Schrade has Walden USA on the broke blade. The Colonial peanut is a match for my larger one that my Dad carried. They have had a good bath and WD-40 dewatering. I'll start cleaning now. I am hoping these will be the start of my restoration attempts. I have some deer antler that needs to be knife handles real bad.

been a little busy lately and haven't been posting as much.

here are the finds of the last month or so:

-three nice little hammer brands 1945-1955
-a odd little horse head trick knife where you pull the head and the blade swings out. does anyone know who made these?
-case xx usa ten dot imitation pearl
-some sort of scout knife that says "MADE IN USA" maybe a sears by camillus? army issue? anyone have any ideas?
-beautiful bone h. boker & co. improved cutlery
-celluloid? hibbard spencer and barlett co. i have a soft spot in my heart for the hsb co.
-fulton barlow. dont really know to much about this knife. tang reads: high carbon steel usa. anyone?

had tons of fun finding all these, meeting nice folks, and talking with my local knife hunting competition!

Here's what Goin's has to say;

MADE IN USA c. 1924-1965 A marking used by Sears & Roebuck.

MADE IN USA c. 1945-1958 A marking used by Sears & Roebuck. "Kingston" is etched on the blade. The knife seen with this arking was made by Ulster.

MADE IN USA c. 1924-1941 A marking used by Sears & Roebuck. "Sta-Sharp Sportsman" is etched on the blade. The knife seen with this marking was made by Camillus.

MADE IN USA c. 1941-1960 A marking used by Sears & Roebuck. "Craftsman Forged Steel" is etched on the blade. Knives found with the "Made In USA" marking on the tang were contract knives made for Sears & Roebuck of Chicago, Illinois. An ink stamp on the blade denotes the Sears' brand name they were using during a specific time period. Camillus, Schrade, and Ulster Knife Company's all have made knives for Sears using this tang stamp.

i checked goins too, and came up with the same thing. steel liners if that helps ring any bells.

i appreciate your help philco. i guess without the etch i may never know. still a cool old knife with a snap like a bear trap.

I snagged these two at a flea market this morning. I gotta tell ya, knife pickins in these parts is just the pits.
"Oh ya, I got three boxes of knives". Many of them were folders that were trash. Broken scales, broken blades and they want too much money for them. I sort of regret buying the ground up Case. I didn't really need it but I liked the sheath. I thought the Commander was an Imperial untill I got it home. I'm glad I bought it.

Why do you call the CASE "ground up"? Isn't that a bird and trout pattern fixed and aren't they supposed to have a narrow blade?

Joe, I agree with Tom that Case blade was made that thin profile like that from factory. I think its a nice find and I would have snagged it also. I think the Commander knife is cool too!

One of my regular boot sale (flea market) vendors bought four small barrels of recycling center pickings from one of the contracting companies that takes care of that sort of thing. He came up with around 250 pocket knives. I bought the best of the bunch, about half are parts knives but the other half are in good shape and only need some oil and a little elbow grease. I can't believe what people will throw away. Unbelievable.
