Cold and snowy here on the Northern Plains. The power was off here for 1 hour and 45 min during the night. Our 27 year old furnace is working hard to catch up.

We also had 16 here early this morning.....but it had a plus sign in front of it. Lucky for you that power was restored!

Note that the temp here also has a minus in front of it as shown in the photo.

Wish we could have the same readings in the Florida Panhandle, I'm tired of this cold mess. Going back in the 30s this week we've told. :(

Back to the single digits here in east central Indiana, all of 8 degrees this morning with about 3 inches of snow on the ground, which was preceded by about an inch of rain. Going to be a sloppy mess when it warms up, come on spring!

I don’t know how you can tolerate such cold temperatures - I certainly can’t anymore but I admire those that can.

I keep thinking about that, how did I tolerate the cold when I used to go to work and maybe be working outside for a time each day. Lucky work is just a distant memory now. lol Fuel injected cars today sure make the start up easier than the old carbureted cars too.

The other aspect is the fact that longer winters mean shorter Spring, Summer and Autumn so to me it's a double whammy. I know modern conveniences like fuel injection have helped but there are still too many compromises that need to be made to live in Arctic conditions for my pampered self ::facepalm::

The best thing about the subzero weather, perfect time to curl up in a blanket and read. And make a big pot of homemade soup. Or bake something.

...I find 30-degree weather affords the same opportunity and all weather is a good time to bake something ::ds:: I grew up in New England where the winters were long and we adapted just fine. I have since then sold my toboggans, sleds, ski's, tip-ups and creepers and replaced them with surf rods and beach chairs. This almost 7-decades old body tells me daily that I've made the right choice. The only shoveling I want to do these days is to set my sand spike.

Again, I'm in awe of everyone's resiliency to live in climates with harsh winters.
