Here are some pics I downloaded, just for a little variety. I always liked seeing Soo Line action back when I lived a little further North.
The 1st pick is that classic look (imo) of an Alco RS-3.

I would be like Ike,
Staring at the trains all day. There is a metra station in Elburn those trains headed to Chi-rack. It’s also a long siding for the 135 car trains to wait for others to pass by. Used to be a bummer because I still had 20 miles to get home. If the staged train was going west you may have to sit for a long time. The second train takes a long time to get moving.

Ike OutStanding SOO shots. Not many ALCO’s left mostly on short lines these days. Santa Fe purged all ALCO’s in the 70’s

2 excellent shots, really like that first one with the two trains meeting, and "small town America" in the background with the mill and water tower.

.....on the subject of Alcos, can't recall the last time I saw one, and F units seem like ancient history. Growing up, I would see MoPac, GM & O, and IC F units....all gone the way of the Dodo bird!

I am also a big fan of Milwaukee Road. If you look in the background of the 2nd pic, you will see "Frankfurth Hdw Co" painted on, what I assume, is their building. Some of you may have had a Frankfurth knife or two.

I would guess that pretty much all RR lines had streamliner locos on their roster by mid 20th century, but possibly not a great deal with the sleek, modernistic look of the one in the 3rd pic.

Ike, The only place I saw similar design locos was in older movies filmed in Europe.

Awesome photos Ike. Actually, quite a number of railroads had streamlined steam engines for passenger trains Santa Fe had one New York Central ‘Norfolk and Western to Name a few.

Attached a couple pictures of us and the Nebraska Zephyr.

Great pics, I've done a couple of dinner trains, but never one with a classy old loco like that. How often does it run?

I think they still run the dinner train during the summer by the time I looked last year it was all booked. Now that its just the better half and I may have to go this year. Miss Lori standing at the Station and the Zephyr and Frisco on the main line.

Forgot about the Leviathan,
Someone local in the elgin area built this steam engine it was at Union Rail museum for a summer think they would load it on a lowboy and move it.
Couple pics and a Wiki article about it.
