Nice John - I still think it is strange how we both scored one within a month of each other and no doubt separate sources for scoring them - when in fact before that Thomaston was not even known to many as a maker of Navy Jacks (as Charlie alludes to above one more for the list of makers) ... The bone looks the same between the 2 jacks (I'm guessing Rogers Bone from the color) but the jigging looks somewhat different to my eye though that only may mean a different worker did the jigging as one explanation.....

How about a Case XX era bone scaled Bill Boatman? I remember reading somewhere the serrated blade was used to cut rope. Had a hard time getting a picture of the blade etch but it says;

Just got this Miller Bros rope knife yesterday in person from a seller in Gloucester MA, I introduced him to his brothers and tucked them in for bed. L-R Miller Bros, Union Cut missing a bail, Robeson missing a bail, and another Union Cut. I think I may try and find examples of all of the WWI rope knives as a collection subset.

I can't believe that I never saw this thread, must have been asleep. Anyway so great knives posted here and thanks to all for sharing them.

JT Mount NJ is one of my favorites. The Mason knife I never considered a rope knife though?

That Mount is a rare one! How long is it closed?

The Mason was a pruner originally IMO

One for sure a rope knife, the old Camillus and the Case 1199 sure looks like a rope knife.

9 years damn that was a long nap!!! The Mount is 4 3/4" closed. Hard to find maker, I have a covered backspring pearl congress also marked J T Mount.
