Well, staying with the Robeson theme I'll show a couple more.

These are just great knives in pattern and in build.

This knife is 4 1/2" closed. Half stops X 2.

This knife is 3 3/4" with no half stops. I am not sure of this pattern but I am quite fond of it.

Is that an Eagle, Falcon, or Hawk model? I'd love to someday own an Eagle cuz they're 9" open, the other 2 models are a bit short for my liking.

These are Bench Mark Knives. Made by Jenkins Machine Tool in Gastonia, NC. These feature the "Rolox" system, where the blade opens mainly out the front. It is a Blackie Collins design, but probably not his best invention. Bench Mark was eventually purchased by Gerber. While pretty cool knives, not very practical. These two are both the Bench Mark Diamondback pattern, which was the largest model. They also had a Viper and a Sidewinder pattern. These Diamondbacks are pretty hot in the collector market these days. Featured are my Stag and my Cocobolo examples. I had no reason to take these out and play with and wax them, but I did anyway. And I think that is what this thread is about.

Those Bench Mark knives are new to me, never seen one before so thanks for pulling them out. Never heard of the "Rolox" system either, can't really picture how it works

Yes, they lock open very solidly. A key drawback, however, is that the lock release 'lever' is located in the rear on the bottom just about where your little finger is holding the open knife when in use. So, if you are squeezing, you could unintentionally trip the unlock mechanism. That could cause the blade to start its closing roll. That is usually what is cited when folks criticize the Rolox system.

In the two pictured, the Cocobolo works flawlessly. The Stag has a small issue in that when closed any pressure on the back of the blade causes the tip to come up just a little, creating a little "peek." I am trying to figure out how to fix that as I think it is a pretty handsome and unique knife.

I also bought some fine dining flatware from him.

Really like those Robesons Joe. I have both those patterns with a bit more wear on them. Here is an old warrior I like to get out because of the heft and balance.
