Thank you both, Reverend and CCC. This is the first Yachtsman I’ve owned and thrilled to find one in unused condition with box. About what year do you think this is from?

Welcome to AAPK. The 315 Yachtsman pattern was made for Buck on contract by Camillus, I believe from 1972 until it was discontinued around 1997. It may have a date code stamp. If so look here for details: viewtopic.php?t=11920

One of the Buck experts here may have better info.

Since the 315 was made by Camillus for Buck, there will be no date stamp. What is the tang stamp—"BUCK/Made in USA" or "BUCK/317/USA"?

Always wanted a 110 as a kid. Finally got one as a big kid, with the Bucklite and case at an estate sale for $18!

That is a great find and an even better price. The 110 is really benchmark knife and design....so many makers compare their large folders to the Buck 110.

More lucky than you realize. That’s a transitional Buck. Note the 4 scale pins rather than the three you see in current knives. Early Bucks had two scale pins when they transitioned to the three pin model they used the old scales and had to use extra pins. Desirable variation.
