Red Bones

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Here's another old thread that is in need of some new life...there are some fine knives on these pages, let's add to it! Here are three of my red bone Case...three different eras represented. A XX era 62087, a USA era 6308, and a 70's era 8 dot 6235 1/2....all reds but each one a little different in coloring and in jigging.

Here are a couple of 6294's with Red bone. One of them is a Tested XX which is unusual in Red, plus it is stamped with the pattern number.

Jerry, you're right - don't see many Tested knives in red bone. And thanks for posting both knives. Good example of differences in blade grinds (swedges, shapes) and pulls, etc. from the Tested to XX era knives. Both great knives. ::tu::

Great red bones Gents! Here are a couple of brothers to some that have been posted.

Interestingly, besides a couple of Congress transitions as I recall, none of the books show red bone knives made in USA era. This CASE XX USA 6111-1/2L No model stamp factory error begs to differ. Red bone in USA era may not be in the books but they sure as hell were made, in my opinion.

Thanks Ken, it's been carried a lot since 1972; however, it is currently in a retired state.
