I'm presuming they are all Robesons. That's great!! And only the pearl part of the Robeson collection, I'm sure. Charlie, that's got to be a lot of fun laying those goodies out for display. Eric

They are all Robesons.

This is one of four cases that constitute part of the table display at a knife show. The other three have bone, stag, wood and celluloid handled knives.

The gunstock whittler is an especially nice knife. In its original box with guaranty. Ignore the reflective smudge on the master blade. The knife retains all its original finish.

Your display is awesome! I am wondering about the color of the one thats in the top row, third one in. It looks kind of purple? Is that a reflection of some sort? I have never seen a smoked pearl knife & was wondering if it was one?

Here's a wee tiny ELECTRIC CUTLERY. Pretty pearl, sharp as a razor.. Walks and talks for a little feller. Main blade sits a tad high due to blade loss from being sharpened.

The knife is a little ladies' pearl whittler with small sheepfoot master, pen and a glove hook.
The handles were called "rose pearl". Robeson used it on several different patterns.
I do not know what they used to dye the pearl.
This little knife came to me in that little leather double-snap purse beside it in the display.

Two old (circa 1890s) Sheffield mop smoker's knives to add to the thread. Originally, the first knife had a disk on a swivel for pipe tamping at the left end. The second has a fold-out tamper and cigar pincer. s-k

Seeing knives such as those makes me want to start smoking a pipe. LOL

The W & F Brown knife has very attractive and rare quilted Pearl scales

It`s hard to beat the old English knives for beautiful pearl handles

Wullie suggested posting this knife. It is not in the best of condition, but has survived for over 150 years. Wade Wingfield and Robothom Sheffield. Wade was taken off the stamp in 1852 (per Goins)

I took a couple of group shots today. Not all my pearls, but a few really cool old names are in this bunch.

P.S. Charlie didn't get ALL the Robeson pearls, just most!

I'll second that! The first knife by Ames Cutlery I've ever seen;probably the rarest knife of the whole lot.

I had been reading the book "New England Cutlery" before going to the Case show in Bradford and was actually shocked when I saw that Ames. I got the Southington, the Electric, & the Ames all from the same vendor. I didn't pay much for the three. I think the dealer was more focused on the Case's he had for sale that day.

The two unusual knives that smiling-knife posted reminded me of a couple of similar knives I own.Though not pearl scaled(one is ivory and the other tortoise)I thought the group might like to see them.
The first is the smoker's knife with the folding tobacco tamping device.The tang is stamped,"Brookes&Crookes" with the bell trademark and Sheffield England on the reverse.The blade is also stamped,"Royston's Halifax" which I assume is probably the tobacconist that ordered the knife.
For those that don't understand how the tamper operates:it slides out approximately 1/4 of an inch and then folds 90 degrees.

The second is stamped,"Westby Levick & Co." with no country of origin.I always assumed it was English.It doesn't have as many blades as S-K's knife and isn't in as good a shape but is still one of the more unusual knives I own.

Joseph & John Westby are listed in my book separately as Sheffield makers, but there is no sign of Westby Levick & Co. Maybe someone will have some info out there? Both knives are very cool... thanks for sharing!

Lot's of very nice knives shown. My only two: a Case XX stainless 82053 and a Lockwood Brothers, Sheffield.

I forgot we had this one. This is one that belonged to my wife's grandmother. It stays in a separate spot from the rest of the rest of the herd.
