i have one made in the 90's don't know who made it . came from J. Parker // one of 20 with stripe

It looks nice. .....is it stamped with or does the certificate say what Country it was made?

IIRC, Schrade did the same thing on a pen knife with the manicure blade

I do not believe they are soldered together, I think the pin in the center holds the two pieces together.

I am reviving an OLD thread in posting this one, but this old post helped me in researching this knife.
My Dad gave me this knife today. He said that he found it in a yard sale and thought I might want to repair it.

It is a John Primble Belknap Hardware 4-blade Congress, model #5517 with a star. From research it was contracted by Boker USA sometime between 1940 and 1968, and is quite the handful at 4-1/8" long. All 4 blades have half stops, and all are tight and snappy. It has been abused a little, but should still make a great user.

Cleanup and repair to commence in 5...4...3...2...

A very worthy knife for a repair, with no pressure to render it
high condition or a charlatan in any sense, but rather to return it to respectability, remain usable, and interesting, too.

An epoxy fill-in would probably work, without getting fancy.

For one, I have never known anyone who has carried a Congress knife, in spite of (due to the Lincoln connection) one of that pattern being possibly the most famous folder, next to George Washington's pen knife, in the country.

Personally, I have never known anyone carrying a Congress knife. It may have more of a history in some regions of the country than in others, i.e., the agrarian (tobacco-raising) South rather than the industrial North?

It is super that your father recognized it as something you might like.

Normally I have not carried a congress pattern either, until this one. It is larger, more stout and solid than any other Congress that I have owned. it feels good in my hand.
And the epoxy patch did work out fairly well!

I have exactly one Primble knife. I had forgot about it until I was looking through a drawer with stuff I had got in knife lots. I guess this one is a factory second since someone mostly ground off the stamp.

I Forgot That I Have This One.....

Back in November 2018, I acquired this pocket knife. It now becomes my first example to be posted under this topic or thread. At the time, it did get added to my general, pocket knife accumulation. It is a JOHN PRIMBLE BELKNAP, two blades, two tang stamps, 3 3/8" closed, two springs, a long main blade pull, pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp (faint) says, "JOHN PRIMBLE (over) BELKNAP (over) HDW & MFG. CO." The main blade back tang stamp (faint) has a star. If there was a pattern number, it isn't there now. The main blade does NOT have a half stop. The main blade does have an OK opening snap. The main blade does NOT have a closing snap. The secondary blade does NOT have a half stop. The secondary blade does have a GOOD opening snap. The secondary blade does have a GOOD closing snap. This pocket knife is in VERY GOOD condition. This pocket knife did require some minor cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.
