Johnny Twoshoes, is that a model 90 or model 06 Winchester? I've got one of each, there not in very good shape, but I do have a model 62 that falls between very good and excellent condition. I'm enjoying this new thread on AAPK as there are so many facets of life that envolve pocket knives. This is one of the "condos" we hunt from in L.A. Since we're no longer in the cow business but into pine trees, the woods have grown up so thick, we provide food plots to supplement the deers nutrition. Planted pines need to be control burned on a 2-3 year rotation and this usually provides lots of browse for the deer but a couple of acres of oats will certainly help the situation. This "condo" is 5'X7' and floor level is about 14' from the ground. The picture from the edge of the pines would be what Bambi sees as he works the edge of the oat patch. Treefarmer

Treefarmer, I am loving your view. It looks like you guys could shoot for a few yards in that area.
That would be a model 06. It's a fine shooting little piece and it's a blast to have, I like the Rossi pumps, but it's hard to beat an old Winchester.

I shot a groundhog sized squirrel with this rifle a couple of years back.

My first high powered rifle was a Remington model 7. I loved that rifle and it was as accurate as can be, it really proved to me that Remington knew how to make a gun. I ended up getting rid of it for a Mossberg 308. I was never satisfied with that rifle so it had to go. Now, the model 700 has been around for a long time and I knew that there were a few laying around, but I wanted one in 243. so I waited about a week before our local gunshop got one in. It was love at first sight and I will never get rid of this one.
I believe this one is from the 80's, but I forget now.

GD56, that is a CZ czech republic built rifle. I usually only buy USA, but the price was right and I love a Mannlicher stock also It's an extremely accurate rifle too, it's really perfect for headshots.

We pulled a tree out of the woods using some rope. Here's a pic of me cutting that rope after we got the tree in position to cut with the electric chain saw.
The fun part was scratchin and clawin' and pullin that tree out of the swamp. Actually I damaged my middle finger on my left hand and it's still swolen from that over a month ago.......

A little less than half a dozen years ago.

I'll never tire of bowfishing. I could do it every day for the rest of my life and when I went through the gates upstairs first thing I'd ask is "where's the river?"

My kinda thread...
Nice pics and stories of what you all do when not "hunting" for knives.
Love to do all things outdoors. Hunting , Shooting, Fishing, Off roading, Camping, etc.
I don't think it is widely known or advertised but Nevada has alot to offer in these areas. Some of it has alot to do with the states laws. Any gun and all the ammo you can afford in 15 minutes out the door (even have a 50 cal Barrett and such once and a while). Lawfully have a loaded weapon in your vehicle, concealed or not. Lot of public land and cool landowners for hunting, etc. I love this state.
There is a hell of a variety of big game to be had, in addition to awesome bird hunting. All 3 species of Bighorn Sheep, Antelope, Some Elk, etc. And some big ass Mule Deer.
Here is one my son guided the 13 year old kid in the pic on the right to on his first hunt. BTW, tough hunting. No trees or cover. A 200 yard shot at your game is considered close where I live. Consider to be a good buck but there have been bigger taken. My son had to gut and cut it in half to get into the jeep. That spare tire is a 33" for reference.
Second pic is me with a 3 pound CutBow I caught ice fishing on 4 pound test.
