Unk, that's my luck. Buy a chain saw to cut down a tree and while I'm driving home a big wind comes up and blows the tree over. (Made up story to make a point.)

Unk, drain that gasoline and run it dry (if it has ethanol in it) or you won't be prepared next time - ask me how I have learned about it the hard way!

Good advice.
The generator came with a little bottle of gasoline stabilizer (I think it was brand name Sta-bil) I added the gasoline stablizer to the tank after Hurricane Ike, and every time I store the generator, I turn off the gas shut-off valve and run it for a few minutes to dry out / empty out the carb.
We had a little wind-storm come through here a few weeks ago and our power was off for about 6 hours. I got out the generator and she cranked on the first pull - first time it had been cranked in about 3 years (the gasoline in it was 3 yrs old). She ran fine for about 3-4 hours , until the power came back on.
I had never used gas stabilizer before - but based on my experience, I would highly recommend it. It is actually probably a good idea for me to go ahead and empty the gas tank now, even though it has been stabilized. Not sure how long that stuff is supposed to last - but I can say it lasts at least 3 yrs!

I use Sta-bil in my outboard fuel & my chain saw. It has always worked well for me, cheap insurance, IMHO.
I wish I could have traded some of our rain & 60 degree weather for some of your sunshine the last couple weeks! I haven’t thawed out from the winter yet! Currently it is 72 degrees on my back deck at 6 PM on July 4th. Summer is supposed to start tomorrow; it is supposed to get up to 81. Mostly upper 70s and low to mid 80s for the 10 day forecast & NO RAIN!
Maybe my garden will grow now!
