Nice job Ken, I was wondering about the jig for the inlay, was that something you made or purchased? I have templates for door hinges that allow for a guide on the tool [router ,multi-tool etc] so the exact size of the hinge can be replicated, I wonder if that is how the factory job is done? Maybe Bonfire Bob will chime in

The template is made from 1/8" 1095 i think and was purchased from USA knifemaker. They have about a dozen different patterns and shields to match. I believe I saw in a case video where they are now cut with a cnc machine in about 2 seconds. I currently have 3 different designs with about 20 shields each. The template or shield would not be hard to fabricate by themselves but to get them to match would be hard.
