All About Pocket Knives

I think I’ve posted this somewhere before but this is a good place to put it. All the patterns are correct. The knives all have a connection to Herman Williams in one way or another. All but three have custom jigged bone by Herman. The other three were from Herman’s collection and used in Jim Seargent’s book. They were then put into the Factory “Wall collection”. I purchased them from a collector who acquired some of the knives from that collection. I still have all the knives but have since gifted the display case to a friend. The case is not all that rare, they do come around once and awhile but not often do they have the tape with the pattern numbers. It was a challenge to put this one together. Best part was corresponding with Herman.

Awesome display. One of these days I will start doing that, but for now they all stay in their rolls.

That would sure be nice. It is frustrating to pack them away out of sight, which I must do. In fact most of mine aren't even at the home place here, but in a safe in an industrial building close by with a big security system. I would love to just have them in a special room and not worry.

A display "safe room" would be great. The more knives I get the more I feel like I should get some insurance for them.

Mine are in my office just waiting for me to come in and start admiring them. At one time they did a survey on ages of knife collectors, put me down for 85 and going strong.

I am young and just getting started. Only been doing this a few years but I think I am set in my ways now.

Thanks. Shields appear to have come and gone on some patterns seemingly at random. I don't know why. I prefer the shield but peachseed doesn't need anything extra either.


Jeff, those are some good stockmans. The square bolster 4" is still my favorite knife pattern.

One sterling and six pearl Gent's knives with their leather purses and some shiny friends. MOP knife top-left is NYKC the rest are Schrade.

The only group picture I have of my Schrades is a collection of the Schrade 773 Miracle Whip knives. The first was 1937, then they didn't make another until after the war in 1948. Thereafter one was released every five years until the last release in 1988.

If you're really interested, some of them are fairly easy to get in almost perfect to perfect condition. They're a nice little knife (somewhere around 3" closed).

That’s a great old display.

Random grouping of everything in arms reach. Some freshly polished. Some often used. Half of these are going back in the bank vault soon and a fresh bunch will come out for December. Decisions, decisions....
