Memorial Day Weekend

Welcome to AAPK's Veteran’s Forum. This is a place where veterans can meet, get to know one another better, perhaps swap a story or two, and share any recent information that they have acquired from the Veterans Administration, DoD and Veterans Service Organizations, including but not limited to, DAV, AMVETS, VFW, American Legion, PVA, and MOPH. Another good source of information are branch specific organizations.
We will have a voluntary CHECKING IN topic where you can introduce yourself, years serve and branch or branches of service. Welcome Aboard!

Their names are on this page twice, so I'll just give my fallen friends and comrades a salute. God bless and keep you 'til we meet again. R.I.P., John

Below is a prayer I've written for the weekly prayer list I maintain for our church.

“Dear God, we thank you for the tremendous price that was paid by Jesus on the cross at Calvary.
The battle is won and eternal freedom is ours by the blood of Jesus Christ. Let us declare the victory
and go forth with the Good News. Father today we remember the cost and the great sacrifices for
the freedoms we continue to enjoy in America. We give thanks to those who serve and proudly wear
the uniform of our nation and today we pray for their care and safety.

Father this day is set aside that we would remember and honor all the men and women that have
served this great nation and made the ultimate sacrifice, those who gave their lives. May their service
and their sacrifices be honored with respect and gratitude for the democracy they defended and preserved.

Heavenly Father comfort the hearts of those who have lost loved ones in service and battle. Let us
remember the families that are grieving today and remind them of Your love for them. Keep them
close to Your heart and let them know we will not forget their loved one’s sacrifice.

Father thank you that we are still free in this nation to worship, to pray, and to read Your Holy Word.
Many citizens have no understanding of how quickly these freedoms can be taken away. Give us an
increased awareness Lord of the spiritual battle we’re in. Help us to stand strong in You and boldly
go where you lead us.

Father on this Memorial Day we give thanks to those who have fought and died for the cause of freedom
for all nations. We pray for our nation, our leaders and our enemies, that we might enjoy peace and
freedom until the appointed day of our Savior’s return. In the blessed name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.”

All gave some, some gave all. A salute to all troops, past and present. I, for one, appreciate your commitment to keeping our country free.
