Re: '83 Les Paul
Didn't get rich but I thought the price was fair on both sides. One large store near Baltimore offered $1200 because he said the autograph ruined the price. Another guy said he'd pay $5K but, "didn't have the cash on hand". Same old story. I hate dealing with that, but I did well and somebody is going to enjoy it. Now, somewhere there's a lonely old Gibson or Martin acoustic, sitting in a closet waiting to be adopted. Come to your new Daddy.

Now for the fun part. The quest for the new (old) music maker from the past! Good luck on the hunt!Ridgegrass wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 1:59 pm Didn't get rich but I thought the price was fair on both sides. Re: '83 Les Paul
A somewhat sad twist. The new owner wanted to take part of the signature off because it was signed to someone. Evidently he used some solvent that ate into the finish and messed up Les Paul's name too. A warning to us all. Know what you're doing when messing with modern finishes. Since nitrocellulose lacquer has been mostly banned, the new finishes can be very tricky. I've seen lots of self-proclaimed "experts" giving advice on the internet. Beware, this poor guy now has a regular old Les Paul Custom with a messed up top. Got to give a person a sick stomach. Sad story. J.O'.

Boy, that is sad, J.O. I see it all the time. Gibson lacquer finishes can really get ruined by people that don't know what they're doing..Ridgegrass wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 12:59 pm A somewhat sad twist.
