We have people around here who register Republican so they can vote for the weakest primary candidate so that is who the Democratic challenger will face in the general election in the fall. That happens a lot in strong Republican districts like I am in.
Yup. Happens here as well. Alaska even has leftist running as republicans just to cause mayhem in the elections. And then of course we have the greatest RINO of all, Senator Lisa Murkowski, also known as Obama's go to girl. I would not be surprised to learn that she was involved in the attempt on Trumps life.

For now, he is my ex-president. He is, ostensibly, a candidate for election to the office. Only time will tell! If one embraces American citizenship, the person duly elected to the office of PotUS is, whether it is the candidate you supported and voted for or not, is "your president". Stating otherwise is tantamount to saying you have no confidence in, and do not support the governmental system instituted when "The Colonies" fought for and won independence from the English monarchy.
I am well-steeped in our founding principles, The Federalist Papers, and own a sizeable collection of biographies of our founding fathers. My family has been in this country since 1635. My ancestors - both paternal and maternal - fought in the American Revolution - some wintering at Valley Forge and others at fighting at King's Mountain in the South. I guess I can "state" anything I want without you putting words in my mouth.

I can't fathom that any fair-minded person would condone the tactics that this administration has used against Trump - whether you agree with Trump's politics or not.

I can’t believe “any fair minded person would condone the tactics” of either party for several years now. Issues have been replaced by personal attacks and character assassinations by duly elected officials who are supposed to be working for the people and not for the DNC/RNC. There have been questionable tactics on both sides.

I stated in another post that, in my opinion we need to focus on the things that should unite us (music, knife collecting, etc.) rather than buying into the schoolyard bullying that continues to widen the chasm in America. I try to maintain respect and to look at issues from both sides.

Regarding my response to your “My President” comment; there have been many Presidents that I neither supported, liked nor respected but they were duly elected and stood as President of the United States and thereby “my President”. I’m sorry, but I can’t wrap by head around referring to a duly elected POTUS as “not my President”. If I can’t respect the man, I strive to maintain respect for the office. I guess that is an obsolete idea.

Like either candidate or not, my observation after seeing the events live and replayed repeatedly, is that most female Secret Service agents are too short in stature to be expected to effectively protect a tall man. Their place may be warranted to an assignment to protect another woman (of similar stature), a short male, or a child. But the shortcomings (no pun intended) of a woman of typical height being a body shield for a taller person became painfully obvious. Had there been another shooter, or a shooter better concealed, Trump was very vulnerable and susceptible to further attack because the female agents helping shield him barely came up to his armpits. Leaving his head fully exposed.

I’m also amazed and shocked by the footage showing the female agent making multiple failed attempts to re-holster her service weapon. Some will say she was under duress, making that excusable. I say the more you practice actions the more your muscle memory comes into play when under duress. At least that's what I have been taught. ::shrug::

Several other aspects of the footage astonish me as well, not the least of which is the Secret service failure to comprehend the concept of “higher ground”. And people in the crowd sighting the shooter, repeatedly saying so, and yet the Secret Service didn’t take action to neutralize the perp until it was too late. ::shrug::

They interviewed the lady who now is head of the Secrete Service asking her who was responsible for this debacle. She said the secrete service was responsible. The reporter asked her if that was her and she said, well I am the head of the secrete service so the buck stops here. They asked her if she intended to resign. She said no, we are making changes and learning from this. I think on the job training has no place in her job, and I seriously doubt she can ever get to where someone in her job needs to be. She and her pretend agents need to go. This is another one of a long list of Biden blunders on par with the Afghanistan withdrawal putting unqualified people in jobs based only on their status, gay, minority, trans, etc. ____Dave

Barney Fife wouldn't have made that seriously bad call. That isn't a mistake. That is helping to cause something bad to happen. People shoot deer with a common rifle not known for exceptional accuracy at that distance all the time. It that's the best we've got to protect our politicians or anyone for that matter we feel we need to protect, we are in really bad shape. Also, the security people didn't seem to have any trouble shooting the shooter. That should have told everyone they had let him way too close. This whole thing brings up all kinds of questions that need answers, and I doubt any real answers are coming. God help us all.____Dave
Lots of questions .... let us see how many answers we get.... ::paranoid:: what do they call that darned thing .... ::shrug:: "Freedom of information Act" ... let's just see how that all works out.... ::paranoid:: I'm sure there nothing to hide.... ::skeptic::

When I was twenty, I could routinely drop man-sized silhouette targets at 400 meters, using a standard Colt M-16 with iron sights.

There should have been a 500 yd secured area around the venue.

Numerous people saw him, with a weapon, approaching and ascending the building. They alerted authorities. One officer confronted him and was scared away when he pointed his weapon at him.

It has been reported the sniper that killed him had him targeted for several minutes and only fired after he had.

Possibly, there was confusion about whether or not he was a security team member.

Lots of questions.

I did notice that the security team with him at the RNC was all male and of appropriate size.

It seems people are slowly but finally waking up to the fact that this was a set up or something. I do not believe the deep state recruited this 20 year old to shoot a president. BUT....SOMEthing is up. This was a hit of some kind. We'll just have to wait and see what kind. IF we do find out.

At least the head of the Secret Service resigned finally. Her testimony to Congress was pathetic. Her resignation is one step in the right direction.

Yup. Agreed. My opinion is on this attempt is it was all planned by the Government, FBI and CIA.

Given everything that is going on now ( and I mean everything), I think someone other than Biff stole Marty McFly's Sports Almanac and the timeline skewered into this time frame. As of everything going on this second, 3:55 central time on July 24, I am at a open mouthed loss for words.
