I just wanted to echo the sentiments of everyone else and their appreciation for the work that goes into offering an annual AAPK knife each year. The ink wasn't dry on my email when I got my order in to keep my set of AAPK annuals going. I love collecting sets of knives and these are some of my favorites! Looking forward to this year's knife as I haven't updated my group pic in a couple years. Thank you Bryan and Tom!!

Good morning and happy Saturday everyone. It's been a busy week for me with the 2024 AAPK club knife sales starting and ending. The feedback to date has been positive about this year's pre-order program where we doubled the number of orders from prior years. Even though the sale period lasted a full 90 hours, in the end, some who wanted this 20th-anniversary knife were not able to get one.
Even though our allotment of knives from GEC is 100% spoken for right now, I have started a waiting list for those who wanted a knife but missed out. In the past, GEC has produced a few more knives than our allotment as part of their quality control program. If that happens again this year, I will use a first-come first-served waiting list to sell any remaining knives. I will communicate via email to those on the waiting list with a hard deadline for a yes/no response. There will be no forum announcement about additional knives being available for sale.
If you did not participate in the pre-order program and wish to be added to the waiting list for a 2023 AAPK club knife, please send your AAPK profile name (i.e., bestgear) if you have one, name (first and last) and email address to aapk2024@outlook.com. I will use the date and timestamp on your email to establish your place on the waiting list. To ensure that emails from aapk2024@outlook.com will not go to your spam, junk, or trash folders, I will reply to each of your requests with your position on the waiting list within 24 hours of receiving your request.
Thanks again for not only your support and comments but your kind understanding of the situation. We will learn from this year's program and strive to make whatever improvements are necessary to do even better next year.

Since i have been a member here i have always thought the selling of the Forum knife was really well done, this year with the tweaks done to the process was no exception. There will always be someone who misses, it's just the nature of the beast. But this year was really well done.

This is the first year I didn’t miss out on the AAPK club knife. So the process worked well in my opinion. Thanks again.

I keep checking GEC’s production schedule looking for our #933124 but the page has not been updated in 2 weeks
I’m hoping my initial dose of patience was enough

Tom, you would probably have absolutely nothing else to do if it wasn't for this.

I noticed in an earlier post that it’s possible to order two knives. With more members wanting knives than the number produced, is that a good idea?

it will be taken into consideration when we conduct our after action review - we only have 5 on the waiting list for a knife so it appears as though maybe it worked?

We’ll report back in early 2025 with the review outcomes

Would be interesting to know how many people actually purchased two knives.

Looking forward to the review and what you come up with and your thoughts. We can always do better, but as previously stated i thought this years process was well organized and managed.

You are welcome Lyle - I'm sure just about any of us would walk through fire to help out Bryan so I know I'm not alone. I was born into a service-oriented family and volunteerism is just a part of who I am but thank you for the kind compliment

Just to be clear, I got my order in on time. I just feel for those members who want one but missed out. Maybe limit it to just one per person - for a period of time - then open it up to orders for a second knife if all haven’t been sold. Just a thought.

....and a good thought at that Tim, thank you.
We are somewhat bound by the limitations of the AAPK Store software and how ordering works globally without having Bryan write custom code solely for the annual club knife sale. The mass email to premium subscribers and then a forum post to all members seems to have allocated a knife to almost 98% of those that wanted one. We started a waiting list on 9/7 and so far, only 5 members would like a knife that didn't get one in the pre-order sale.
Limiting sales is a good idea and to a large degree we did just that this year, but as has been previously pointed out, there's always room for improvement.

I personally believe this was handled very well this year.
