I actually prefer stark contrast and variations between pile and mark side scales, whether it be bone, stag, wood or pearl. Its like getting two different pictures to admire in the same piece. I had to read and reread your post to fully understand your issue because I just see good bones in the pictures.
I have dabbled in jigging. It's tough to be imperfect but not sloppy. Your technique is stellar

Thanks. When I first decided to do my own jigging i thought "how difficult can it be?". As always, anytime I get that confidence, I am quickly humbled and realize it looks easy because the people that did it were masters, and I have a lot to learn lol.

I found several older Utica farmers jacks ( and others Utica made)that had different shades on their sides.

I was just reading your profile and saw you are from WV. That's my home state. I grew up in a small town called Flemington. I still have family back there and visit a few times a year.

WV is split into several sections for such a small poor state. Flemington is in an area more like MD, N panhandle people identify with PA and O. All of the rest of us have our sects too.
I resent the PM, apparently I didn't push send or had another glitch of some sort.

Hi Lyle, I think I'm having an issue with my PM's. I have a ticket in to have it looked at. Anyway, you are right, wv is definitely broken up into sections. I went to school in Huntington, only 3 hrs away from where I grew up and it was a totally different world.

The gist was I would love for you to make me a farmers jack, if and when you want to do an opposite ended single spring. I have parts and frames to loan.
I sent it again, but it doesn't look like anything went through.

I haven't done a farmers jack and honestly not sure if I ever even held one. One of the things I planned for this year is a 2 blade knife. I'll have to dig into that and see what I can come up with.
