Thank you; really anyone can do it if they have some tools and some suitable rock. Like with anything else it boils down to practice.

If there's suitable rock hereabouts, I'm gonna get some and practice. Those knapped arrowheads are way too cool! ::tu::

Thanks, I’ve only been knapping for about 7 months. So if you need any help or suggestions, I can give you about 7 months worth of novice experiential opinion :)

Once again, beautiful work! ::handshake:: The only thing I was ever able to chip or flake off was a front tooth and a couple of pillow tops full of dandruff... ... :x

I don’t have rocks where I live, so every time we go on vacation I try to find some that are knappable. We went to Oklahoma a while back and while we were there I found quartz. It can be difficult material to knap but I was able to squeeze out a point from a good sized flake.

Dovetail point (quartz)

1-1/4” Long
3/4” Wide
Little over 1/8th inch thick

Thanks guys! I must have broke 5 potential Clovis points before this one. Free-handing flutes is a dangerous operation. ::teary_eyes::

A friend at work has found arrowheads his whole life and knew that I have never found one. So he gave me this really nice example. It’s the only real one that I have, besides the 1/4 piece of a Clovis I found at the beach.

It’s blue in color and when held to the light it is translucent yellow.

The point has a twist to it because it was sharpened.
