Cubs beat the Fish 5-2. Two out, three run blast by Kris Bryant in the bottom of the 10th.

A dinger is a thing of beauty. Harper hit a GS last night to put a stake in the Cards. Hoskins hit a dinger too. One more in St Louis today at 1PM.
Happy the Cubs beat the fish, the NL east is competitive enough.

Re: Are There Any BASEBALL Fans On The Forum?
MLB has begun selecting the “All 2010 Decade Team”. They’re picking the top 10 players for the decade at each position, and ranking them 1 through 10. So far with catchers, infielders, and left fielders selected, the Rangers are the only team having more than one player selected number one at his position. But after all they did make it to two World Series during the decade.
Not surprising, Adrian Beltre is number one at third base. No comment needed.
The surprise to me at least is Elvis Andrus at shortstop. Not that I don’t think he deserves it - I’ve long thought he is under-appreciated unless you watch him play a lot. Then you realize how really good he is. Glad to see him getting some recognition. BTW he just turned 30 years old.
For those who haven’t seen it here’s the most recent selection (left fielders). From this article you can link to the rest that have been announced so far. https://www.mlb.com/news/10-best-left-f ... -the-2010s

Swept! I don't know what to say TB! I heard on TV today another key player is out hurt. That story must be getting old for you.
My Phils are battling Jery's Cubs tonight, Cubs up 1 to 0 in the 7th. We one the opener yesterday, barely. Phils are threatening with 2nd and 3rd, 1 out. Herrera is up. He just grounded out to the pitcher.

Well the Phils managed to score those two guys so its now the bottom of the 8th, Cubs at bat, 2 out and the pitcher walks Russell. I'm speaking to the TV loudly. One of my cats is looking at me as if I well.....

And in sore need of a couple of starting pitchers and a bull pen. At least the hitting, which has been their Achilles heel for most of their seasons, seems to be rolling along.steve99f wrote:Yeah, watched to the end edge. The Cubs have a good team, well balanced. Good baseball.

The local sports media are saying the same thing about the Phils staters and bullpen. They think Kimbrell is the guy. I'd rather wait and see if the 2 guys on the injured list comeback healthy and effective. If not, then get Kimbrell if your wallet can stand the hit. Many shaky pitching staffs out there.

I stuck around for the finish and yeah, that slam closed the door for sure. When the Cubs got that 3 run knock earlier to tie, I had a bad feeling. Good fun to watch these two teams.

Appreciate that Jerryd. We gained one on the Phillies with 2 outta three against the Giants.
Better watch out behind you Steve.

Re: Are There Any BASEBALL Fans On The Forum?
Close. 9-7 in the 9th with runners on 2nd & 3rd but the Cubs just couldn't close the deal. Split series and game four was a real heart stopper. Reds come to town this weekend. Lost two of three to them last week on their field. Sure wish we had gotten McCutchen from them instead of Philly.

Re: Are There Any BASEBALL Fans On The Forum?
I do believe the Braves have got a super star in the making with Austin Riley. A two run shot in the eighth to tie the game 4-4 and then he walks the Giants off in the 13th with a run scoring single!
Good Stuff!

As Jerry noted, Phils and Cubs split the series. Our pitching and Manager need help. And "Cutch" is doin' fine in Philly thank you very much. Brewcrew next I think. Try to help your Cubs out while we're there Jerry.
