Here's a pruner/horticulture/hawbill (what is it anyway?) that got next to a buffer.
I still like it. Very strong knife.

A couple more Keen Kutters. First is a black composition handled barlow. Likely from late 1950s? Second is an interesting knife. It has no liners, except for a catch bit as the knife blade is thinner than the scissors. Back is covered and the backspring floats about and 1/8" above the back cover. Also has an etched pattern number on the back of the blade. Sellens lists this model as being made between 1915 and 1920. Seems a bit delicate, with no liners one pin crack at the spring pin could spell the end of the functionality of the knife.
Wow, sure easy to add pictures now, used the drag and drop method.

I've seen some old lobsters with that same construction (no liners), it does appear pretty flimsy but is apparently tougher than it looks.

Sorry, that link does not seem to work anymore. It was kind of a strange listing, did not show up on a search when within ebay. I got to it from a reference on a Keen Kutter tool collector's website. Was listed as not selling to Canada. I emailed the seller and he said he would ship to Canada, however, ebay would not let me bid. Knife sold for $137.00.

It would have brought more but it had a crack on the rear center pin.

I did see the crack, the knife was very well described by the seller. I am pretty inexperienced, I really wouldn't have had any idea how much a small crack like that could bring down the selling price. Based on my experience at the OKCA show (the only one I have ever been to), I would have expected that knife to go for at least twice what it did (which was actually $139.50, not %137.00).

Got this one last week. I do have a few concerns about it? The fit of the blades to the backsprings looks better in hand than in the photo. Shadows in the photo make the blades look significantly thinner than the backsprings?

My newest KK. A 2 blade senator, just over 2 7/8". The back of the pen blade has a MADE IN USA stamp, have never previously seen any reference to this on a Keen Kutter?

Dan, that's interesting, I have seen knives made during WWI and WWII era using that stamp.

Sellens' lists this pattern as being produced between 1924 and 1934. I don't ever recall seeing one with the "Made in USA" stamp on the back of the blade, however, the knife itself certainly seems genuine. Is the odd line at the edge of the tang above the "Made in USA" actually there or is it just a photographic artifact?
