Typing SEY into google comes back with M1/M2 Carbine magazine. It's short for Seymore Manufacturing Company.

Looks like the real ones that aren't fakes and are the solid back instead of the split back variation go for $40 or more.

Those that have sold on eBay have gone from a little less than $20 to in the $30 range and depending on the markings, a few go up in the $40 range.

I was pretty sure that magazine was for a M1 30 caliber carbine rifle. The ammo in the magazine is vintage too. As I said the letters L C mean Lake City Arsenal, and the number 45 is the year it was made. There are ammo collectors out there just like us knife, gun, old coins, and stamp collectors. They would be interested in that ammo I bet. I had a complete full case of 30-06 Springfield ammo from the Frankfort arsenal dated 43 (1943). I made out pretty good on it at a flea market. The only bad thing about that older WW II ammo is it's primer is corrosive to rifle barrels. Any rifle that shoots it needs to be cleaned ASAP when they get it home to stop any rusting and damage to their rifle's barrel. The military used corrosive ammo up into the 1960's. Current ammo for both the military and civilians is corrosive free and we don't have to worry about it. The barrels of your firearms still need a good cleaning after a long day of shooting to remove copper, lead, and powder deposits that causes fouling in the barrel. AS far as value goes, if Obama gets re-elected and pulls a slick Willie Bill Clinton on us, that magazine will be worth it's fully loaded weight in gold. You've got a good magazine, now go out and buy you a good M1 Carbine rifle. They're fun to play around with shooting them. They aren't very good battle weapons though. Not enough velocity to make power so it's kinda under powered for a battle round. Still fun to shoot though.

I know old ammo can be worth some good money, maybe these are worth $1 each if they are they are already worth more than the clip they sit in, as I got several more that were loose when I bought the clip

Don't fire sixty-seven year old ammo. They have probably lost their seal, the powder has deteriorated and the round could be under-powered.

If so, and you fire such a cartridge, the round might not clear the barrel.

Then, if you fire a successive round, you've got trouble when it strikes the one stuck in the barrel.

Not a good thing.

I had this happen to me once while rapid firing a recently purchased .380 semi-auto with the cartridges the previous owner had in it.

The only thing that saved me was the under-powered round did not completely blow back the activating slide and thusly, the following round did not chamber, but wedged sideways between the back of the barrel and the slide.

Otherwise, I would have fired that next round.

It took me twenty minutes to tap that projectile out of the barrel with a Phillips screw-driver and an improvised hammer.

Could have lost my hand.

I went hog hunting with some of my old High School buddies that I have known since about 1970. We had an indescribable day on Saturday.....we were on a 5000 acre ranch in central Texas. We had brought quite a few guns, and there was an area designated to shoot on the ranch (target range). The owner of the ranch is a certified gun nut. My buddy has been leasing from this guy for 18 years, and they are kinda like family with the owner. After we had been shooting a while, the owner pulls up in his truck with the bed loaded with guns and ammo.....We shot targets, beer bottles, clay pigeons, rolling targets, etc. I shot a ton of guns I had never shot before...a list of just some of the guns:

Kimber .45 Desert Warrior, Springfield National Match .45, Glock .45
a couple of Glock 9mm, Browning HiPower 9mm
2 fully decked out AR 15s, Win 94 .30-30, Win 94 .22, S&W M&P 15-.22
Remington 700 .30-06, Winchester model 70 .270
Yildiz O&U 12ga, Browning Citori 12 ga, Benelli 12 ga
M1 Garand, AK 47
a couple of Browning .22 pistols, Colt .38 Detective special, .44 Magnum

I am missing some, as I can't remember them all....

We shot for a solid 6 hours. My shoulder is black and blue. We were in hog heaven..(pun intended). Wow! - I can't remember having that much fun in years.
