Comfort Knives!

I haven't had this nifty little folder out of it's cage in some time now, so it's gonna provide me with some comfort today while I browse! This is an unmarked humpback manual stiletto that measures 8" oal/SS drop-point blade, intricately engraved SS bolsters, SS liners, brass pins and lanyard tube, and white ABS covers with faux abalone inlays. Weighs-in at 4 oz.'s, and arrived sharpened. I also ordered it's sister that is identical but for it's faux tortoise-shell covers, that I'll post another day. Ordered from and made in China, through ebay. I already owned the auto version of the knife, and since I love sets, I had to get these too! See pics!

My collection numbers about 200 now Sam! Everything I've been posting you've seen before, either in "Some of mine" in the "Switchblade Collectors" forum, or, "My manual folders", in the "European and other foreign manufactured knives" forum. Some of those posts showed multiple knives, so perhaps you hadn't noticed them as individuals at the time you were viewing them.

This knife is another that isn't getting the attention it deserves, so it's my comfort knife choice for today! It's a 7 1/2" oal all Damascus lockback stiletto/Damascus dagger blade with n/n, solid Damascus body with genuine MOP inlays and no liners, brass pins, file-worked spine, and flush-mounted release. Fairly heavy at 6.5 oz.'s, and arrived with both edges sharpened. Far from being a user, but makes for an excellent showpiece!

I have another Marbles lockback that hasn't seen nearly enough desk time, so it's my comfort knife for today! This one is 7" oal/SS spear-point blade with 20% swedge at the tip and n/n, NS accented bolsters, brass liners pins and cover inlay, and what are likely Rosewood covers. Light at just 2.2 oz..'s, and sharp. Bears all the Marbles markings. A friendly little user that is just as at home cutting strings as it is slicing opening boxes!

I pulled out my Pro-Tech Godfather BO/BC auto for my knife today, and I like this knife more each time I handle it! It's 9 1/4" oal/154-CM steel modified bayonet needle-point blade, black aluminum body, recessed button so no safety, no liners, adjustable pivot, and a pocket-clip. Weighs-in at about 4 oz.'s, and came with only the bottom edge sharp. Showing Pro-Tech markings. Fires with authority, and locks-up solid every time! A ton-of-fun to play with, and will provide me with plenty of comfort as I browse and watch the tube today!

It's a CRKT Ken Steigerwalt designed slip-joint "Quill" knife, that is 5 1/8" oal/SS spear-point blade with n/n, SS bolsters liners and pins, dark horn covers, and lanyard hole. Weighs a scant 1.5 oz.'s, but very sharp. Has CRKT markings on the blade. When I was looking at the knife on-site, I had a mental image of it being much larger, but when I opened the box and saw it's actual size, I was quite surprised at just how small it is. A good one for cleaning fingernails or opening letters!

They're pretty cool aren't they Rick! Seemed expensive for such a small knife, but you know what they say, "Good things come in small packages"! In the bottom pic there appears to be a scuff or smear on the cover, right around the center pin, unless that's just a reflection, but mine has similar marks on it. I included another pic, although, don't know if you can make it out. If you click-on the pic, and then click-on it again, it will expand so you can see better. Did yours come that way? Thanks!

Mark, mine did come that way. If it's the white areas that you're referring to I think it's the natural colors of the horn. I got the knife out again and took a closer look. It appears to be natural.

These were available at www.herooutdoors.com , a Canadian site, last time I looked, but should you decide to order one, it'd be a good idea to use their "Contact Us" info and give them a toll-free call, because they are notorious for not having items in stock, and the ONLY type of refund is a "Store Credit", so you might end up with something you didn't really want, just so you can use the credit. They are REALLY bad at updating their stock, so you place an order and then they send you an email that your item isn't available, with the only option being the credit. Kindda lousy way to do business, but they have some incredible knives listed, and I only found out about the credit the hard way. I don't know what it's called, but I think they take your order, and THEN see if they can get the item, and unfortunately, many times the item is discontinued. If I ever order from them I always call first to make sure it's available. Sounds complicated, but it only is if they can't get your item. It's a little knife with a CDN$65. price tag, so it's far from being inexpensive, likely due to the Steigerwalt connection. You'll definitely like it should you opt to get one! Thanks Rick, that was what I was referring to. And now that I look closely it sure does appear to be swirls of white in the horn, plus, nothing I've tried will remove the marks. Good eye buddy!

You always take bad news with such good grace Willy, good for you! And yes, that CRKT certainly looks like it could take anything you would throw at it. When you click-on a product at Hero and it opens in a new window, if you don't see a "Discontinued" box in red below the picture, it's a pretty good sign, although, since they are so lax in updating their inventory it's a good idea to call and find out for sure so you don't get stuck with the "Store Credit". In the Hero link you sent me here, after you click-on it and the pic comes up, scroll down to "Related Products/Customers also viewed", and under "Customers also viewed" there is a Ganzo manual that looks very solid, and it's about $20. cheaper. Ganzo autos are top-notch, so I figure their manuals would be just as good. Check it out!

The Ganzo manuals are pretty good too. I have quite a few of them and am happy with all of them but with the Ganzo auto's I feel like you get alot more than what you paid for, just my opinion.

I had a power-packed day yesterday from the time I woke up til the wee hours of the night, and for only the 2nd time in the 8 months I've been a member did I not spend most of the day here on the forum, and man did I ever miss it! I didn't even have time to post a comfort knife! Back to business today though with this unmarked Spanish made linerlock folder that's 8" oal/dual-edged Damascus dagger blade with stud, Damascus bolsters held-on with screws, brass file-worked liners and pins, SS file-worked spine, and dark horn covers displaying white swirls within. A hefty weight of 6 oz.'s, and both edges sharpened. This knife is 1 of 3 I ordered from this seller, and 1 of them came free of charge to compensate for minor defects in the other 2 knives which I was able to easily correct, but the seller insisted I choose a 3rd knife, so I did! I would call these knives "Art" knives, because to use and abuse them and ruin their appearance doesn't seem likely!
