Are There Any BASEBALL Fans On The Forum?

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Yes, I’ve heard people say that. Strange but I like playing both. I don’t play either now, too old for baseball and too busy for golf. But for whatever reason I never enjoyed golf on television, and it’s even worse nowadays when I’ve never heard of 90+% of the golfers. I liked it better in the days of Palmer, Nicklaus, Trevino, Player, et al.

The fat guys were more entertaining too. :D

Having said that though, the quality and quantity of really good players out there makes it very competitive. Just wish some of them had names I could pronounce.

I still play when there is time, not as often as I used to for sure. I stink but its fun. It is a difficult game.

I'm hoping for a 3-1 split but would settle for a 2-2 split.

Adbert didn’t pitch too bad, just one run, but 4 walks in 4 innings won’t cut it. And he can’t bunt - that was a weird double play when he missed the bunt and hung the runners out to dry! ::facepalm::

Time to vote for your All-Star team selections. I’m old school - liked it better when the players selected the best and most deserving of their peers. Now it has become largely a popularity contest. As I understand it now that the field has been narrowed down to the finalists, we have 24 hours to vote for the winners at each position, which started at noon today Eastern time.

FWIW, here’s my ballot. With one exception I tried to vote with my head, not my heart. See if you can guess how I deviated from that strategy. Hint: it’s not Joey Gallo. The guy is having a phenomenal breakout year, his OPS is 2nd (and not by much) to only Mike Trout, and he’s a better-than-average defensive outfielder with an accurate cannon for an arm. Just FYI, I love me some Jose Altuve and Freddy Freeman. I just feel the guys I voted for are having better years. How would you vote?

I understand most all your votes except one. Do you have a hard on for the Cubs? Javier Baez is the most exciting shortstop in major league baseball to watch play. Yeah, he makes the occasional mistake but as a whole (and maybe I have a total misunderstanding of the selection process) he makes some of the most spectacular, impossible plays there are.

The only two outfielders I see on your list that are no doubters are Christian Yelich and Mike Trout. (In my humble opinion)

This will be displayed at the Boston Red Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays on the evening of my 25th wedding anniversary somewhere between the middle of the of 2nd inning to the end of the 3rd inning. Our first date was at Fenway Park in 1992, a 73-89 season that left the Sox firmly in the basement but I found the love of my life.

Sorry Jerry, nothing against the Cubs. I don't get to watch the Cubs that much, nor many other NL teams either. I'm relying mostly on the numbers, plus Trevor Story is a Texas kid who was a high school phenom so I know a good deal about him.

I voted for Contreras at catcher over McCann of the Braves even though I think mcCann is a deserving candidate. And Bell over Freeman even though I think Freeman is great. I'm sure Greg thinks I don't like the Braves either.

The only team I refuse to vote for is the damnYankees.! I readily admit to that prejudice and I'm not ashamed of it either! ::sotb::
