The game between the Rangers and Angels has correctly been postponed.
My wife and I had tickets to the Rangers/Angels game Tuesday night, which was played after the Monday night game was postponed due to Angels pitcherTyler Skaggs’ untimely death. Very unusual game atmosphere - somber is the word that describes it best I think.
Baseball was played as usual by both teams. I somehow got the feeling however that both teams were pretty much just going through the motions. There was almost no musical entertainment, no gimmicky attempts to encourage the crowd to chant, clap or otherwise make noise. They of course played the National Anthem to open the game but after that the music and scoreboard visuals were bare-bones minimal. Rather than having the crowd sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the traditional 7th inning stretch, they played a recording of it. (Kind of interesting as they played the rarely heard and little known second verse

What usually is sung, and thus well known, is just the chorus.)
Sad situation for a 27 year old athlete in his prime to suddenly die.

Nothing has been released regarding cause of death, except that there are no indications of foul play.

The Redbirds beat Houston tonight.

That’s 9 wins in their last 10 games. Don’t look now but the Cardinals are in 1st place. How long that will last, who knows!?
Any time Houston looses is a good day.

And the damnYankees lost too!
Ken.

Don't look now but the Cards are still in first place.

But the Cubs are doggin' 'em.

Well fellas I've just got to check in here and say you had better bring it if you're going to be playing the Braves here shortly.

They have been on a tear over the last few weeks. Nippin' at the heels of that .600 mark. I didn't think I'd be rootin' for the Brew Crew but if they whip St. Louis tonight, that will put the Cubs back in 1st place in the Central Division.
Cubs 12 - SF 11 Lotta home runs on both sides.

Me too Jerry!

Who ever thought that one up struck out.
And speaking if strike outs, I love it when a pitcher throws a third out strike three, and is so confident of it the ending his follow-through is to start walking toward the dugout before the ump has even made the call. "Here it is, it's a strike and you can't hit it!".
That was a trademark of guys like the great Bob Gibson, and you still see it sometimes today.

Ken, I haven't noticed any of that going on. Of course Cubs pitching isn't good enough for something like that.
A sweep of SF and now it appears they will get swept by the Nats. Shucky darn. Getting too close to the end of the season for malarkey like this.

Cardinals are sticking it to the Brewers. 8-0 after an inning and ½. Oh BTW, they're playing in Milwaukee.

Yep, Cardinals are on a roll, 5 in a row and 8 of their last 10. Still a lot of season left but I gotta like what the Redbirds have been doing lately. Need to keep rolling cuz I'm sure the Cubbies aren't done yet.

You can't use that. That's the Cub's mantra and I have a feeling we're going to need it.

Had a great time with my crew last night and a sweet 8-4 win!

We stood at the Red Porch Lounge area the whole game, Abe won the President's Race.

Looks like everyone enjoyed themselves, what's not to like. And beating a local rival just sweetens the pot.

Jerry, you guys can't just claim that as yours, its the right of every losing team to utter that phrase. In baseball anyway.

Thanks, Steve!
It is only our 3rd game this season, usually I've been to a dozen by now. But the DC Metrorail closure in Virginia has really killed my access to the ballpark this year. The station remodeling is supposed to be finished by September 15th.
