Are There Any BASEBALL Fans On The Forum?

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Just heard Mad Max is done for the season, so even iiiiiiiffffff The Stras gets it done tonight we will be back to a replay of Sunday's pitching for Game 7. And that's not good . . .

MLB wants the Nats to win tonight, not because anybody there is rooting for the Nats but simply because it forces a game 7 and that means more $$$$$$$$$. No matter what happens in life, just remember it's always all about the money.

If you're referring to the runner in the baseline call, the call made was correct. The runner is supposed to run outside the first base line - that's why there's another chalk line laid down - to define where the runner is supposed to be.

When I played we were coached to run on the line, as close to the pitcher's mound as possible without being inside the line. I mostly played third base and was coached on plays like that one that are going to be close, if the runner is inside the line try to hit him square in the butt or in the back. We practiced the play but fortunately it's rare.

Turner was clearly inside the line and I'd bet he knew exactly what he was doing the whole time. He knew there was a throw coming. Those guys are professionals for a reason.

Having said all that I'm surprised it was called. That they allowed it to be reviewed also surprised me, but the fact the call was upheld is yet another indication it was correct.

Either way it gives the pundits something to flap about! Looks like there'll be a game 7! MLB and the TV network will be happy.

Way to go Rendon. I would be jaw dropping surprised if Houston can make up 5 or 6 (for the win) runs here in the 9th.

Taking 3 of 3 games in Houston, the Nats have proved they can win at Minute Maid Park and Max Scherzer is taking the mound tonight, soooooooo..............................

Watching last night made me realize how much MLB has lost the "art of the ejection.". Maybe it's the new rules and fines, but today's managers could learn a lot just by watching old videos of guys like Billy Martin, Bobby Cox and Earl Weaver getting ejected. Piling dirt on home plate, kicking dirt on the ump's shoes, picking up bases and throwing them into the outfield, and so on. For whatever reasons today's managers just don't have that creativity. Maybe that's a good thing but it's sure not as entertaining! ::facepalm::

Ken, I just heard the same discussion at the barber shop concerning Bobby Cox and other managers, how it used to be. ::tu::

Missed the first game, but watched the last six - great series this season. OH

Congratulations to the Nationals and their fans, a very exciting series that will go down with the best of them.

Speaking of mementos, John, maybe a knife like this will be coming out that you can snatch up.

I still can't believe it finally happened, in the 15th season after baseball finally came back to DC. Last DC WS win was in 1924, 95 years ago.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the Nationals next year. They have a lot of free agents on the team - I think I saw there's 16 including many of their best players. They won't be able to re-sign many of them. Those guy$ are going to ca$h in on the $ucce$$. ::hmm::

The December issue of True West magazine has some good baseball related quotes:
It took me 17 years to get 3000 hits in baseball. I did it in one afternoon on the golf course.
- Hank Aaron
Baseball is like church. Many attend, few understand.
- Leo Durocher
I ain’t afraid to tell the world that it don’t take school stuff to help a fella play ball.
