Here are a couple new ones I picked up this week.

A Camillus Tip Top Barlow, made in 1946 or before. A Swan Works shell handle Barlow.
I would estimate this to be circa 1920s, though it could be earlier.

Stumbled upon a small Victronix Swiss Army today with a company logo on it. Looks like it was used once but carried a lot. Appears to be the factory edge, very sharp and still had the toothpick/tweezers.

Strangely it was in a small black leather pocket sheath that looks like it originally came in.

Well went back to the estate sale that I picked up some great finds yesterday and I bought out the rest of the knives the garage/workshop and the gun room and on the wall there were some old belts hanging with somebody elses name on it and the guy that works for the estate sale was making jokes that if your name was such and such you would have it made well I got home started looking through the stuff and one of the belts and whaaaaattt a bowen knife your kidding pretty good seeing as I only paid 25.00 for the rest of the gun room,and the belt fits lol!

Nice Western fixed blade I picked up yesterday ( Sunday ) at a very good estate sale. It was the best knife offered in the showcase, and priced well. 10.25 inches overall, 6 inch blade, and original sheath. The mark sided tang stamp is Western, over Boulder, Colo.; pile side has Pat. No. 1,967,479. No model stamp in the finger guard, as there are in the L series. Round head aluminum pommel. I suspect that the knife was made between 1946 - 1950. The handle is stacked leather, and some sort of plastic spacer's. The handle taper's, being more broad at the finger guard, and tapers to a smaller diameter to the pommel. Overall, a nice knife. Bull

That's a great catch, especially in that condition.

Thanks for the compliment Quick Steel. There were 5 or 6 other knives in the showcases, but this one was the best for the money . Bull

Your knife appears in the 1931 through 1941 catalogs. Since the patent was granted in '34, it was mfg between '34 and '41, when almost all consumer patterns were terminated for the war effort. It and many others were not resurrected after the war. The spacers varied a little from time to time.

T.R., Thanks for the correction! I like aging the knife even better. I was taking a guesstimate at best when I put down the date's which I did. Were your catalog reference's located here on AAPK? It's a cool old knife. It's previous owner took good care of it. Thanks again for the correction and pic! Bull

The Knife Makers Who Went West, by Harvey Platts, copyright 1978, First Edition, Longs Peak Press, Inc., out of print, about 200 pages, hardbound, runs about $100 to $150 when you can find it. Heads up: We have a Western subforum here which has been languishing. Check it out.
