Thanks Oscar and Waukonda. A pile of leaves is like getting them wet. My dogs act so amped up when they are wet. They love to be toweled off when they come in wet and they rub on the floor and even furniture if you don’t stop them. Then they can get pretty amped up as well. Not sure what signals a dog that it’s play time when they see leaves or get wet? But it’s a favorite time for me to enjoy them. Something joyful in watching dogs and cats play.

I never saw a dog who could resist a pile of leaves. On the other hand, some would try to hide at bath time.

Very cool Mark. Agreed on watching dogs and cats play is enjoyable. Around these parts, not many naturally grown trees. Of course, all the homeowners like myself, plant trees though.

My dogs love a good straw bale or two. Cut string. Take a chunk to spread in the outdoor shelter. Throw a bunch in his summer, deep, keep cool, disappearing gigantic dog hole, a foot or so thick. One of those dog, not visible, below ground level holes. Deep!

The rest of bale(s) are left intact.
They climb on it, lay on it, tear it apart and make a additional "nest" of their choosing or toss it around.

Funny stuff to watch. All the dogs I have owned love a bale of straw.

Take care, Jerry

Cute companions Oscar! Great looking critters! Good on you Brother for caring and loving those grateful friends.

Mine keep me happy , vice versa, and out of the bars. Although, took Bear there on the return walk for one beer last night. They gave him his own small portion in a bowl and water in a separate bowl. He chose the water. Good boy. Designated Driver.

Socialization for both of us. They water him and I and give him a treat or two. Take Elsa there as well off and on.

Good times and memories.

My sweet girl Elsa before I leave for work every morning looks like this. I gently remind her this is how I provide a roof, food, toys, etc for her and Bear and will be back to have our time together soon. Oddly, she is not a fan of me leaving but understands.

Nice Jerry. I don’t know how dogs know when we are leaving but they do. I think they are so tuned in to our habits that they notice when it’s going to happen. I think they see things that are different from our habits that make them aware also. That is a universal look on her face. I see that every time I leave the house too. Can’t stop thinking about them when I am gone. They make great friends and family members.

Jerry,
I think it’s more than just knowing our habits. Tell your dog that you’re going for a walk in the park. In the car no problem. Tell them you are taking them to the park for a walk when you’re really going to the vet. Somehow they know !
It’s uncanny.
And Elsa knows that you’re leaving the house for awhile. You can see the sad expression on her face.

Yes Sir Gents. They are truly special friends.

On his hind legs standing, Bear is eye to eye with me and I am 6 foot 2.

He bellied up to the bar, literally. He did his hind leg stand, front legs extended with his paws firmly planted on the top of the bar. Happened in a split second.
Bartender thought it was cute.
I laughed, asked him nicely to get down and he complied. Gentle giant.

These friends keep me sane in this crazy clown world we are in at the moment.

EDIT: Added pics. Couple of better ones I could not get in time but he seems to be a gambler as well as a drinker. He id quite the rock star in town Guy in pics isn't me but, a patron whom took a liking to Bear

Hey Jerry,
Bear is the perfect name for him as large as he is. I think he could be Mastiff. While I once had a dog of mine get into my beer when I stepped away for a minute, overall alcohol is not good for dogs. I never intentionally let them have it.
But Bear is a non drinker who likes to hang out at the tavern ! Very cool dog indeed !
My dog is a mere 36 pounds and couldn’t reach the top of the bar. Maybe I can train her to sit on a barstool. Beautiful dog you have there !
From his expression he obviously loves to socialize at the bar. Thanks for posting pictures.

Bear is superb. Reminds me of Call of the Wild. I once knew a Weimaraner who sat on a bar stool.

Thanks Oscar. Maybe some Mastiff in there.
I and told and physical characteristics, markings, tail, etc support my understanding of what his breed is.
Great Bernard or Saint Pyrenees. Saint Bernard and Great Pyrenees mix. Not AKC but a recognized "breed".
Thanks Garry! Would to see dog like you mentioned on a bar stool.
It is just hilarious to me to see a dog hind leg stand, bellied up to the bar at the height of a tall human. Hilarious.
Blessed to have them all in my life.

Thank you Kim!

These two knuckleheads are a huge facet of my life.
The two cats, love them but enjoy that they are independent outdoor kitties.

I belong to them, they don't belong to me. I'm just their human caretaker, to make sure they have a good life and don't do anything stupid in the process. And vice versa. Lot of joy in that for all involved parties.

Amen!

Love those bar pictures Jerry. What a treat to be able to take him into there.

Got a few pack pictures from my wife. She has to do all the walking of the dogs. I haven’t been able to take the dogs on a walk in over 6 years now. I miss that so much.
You can see how big Moki has gotten better in these photos since you can compare him to the other dogs. It’s been so much of a blessing to be able to watch him grow from puppy to adult. We missed so much not seeing that with Scout, Kobi or Sage. Scout is the bigger Golden Retriever in the photos, Sage and Kobi are no longer alive, sorry to say.
I call this look on their faces the “happy worn out” look, since it looks like they are smiling while they are recovering from the exercise.

Thanks Mark!

What great pictures of your pack. Each unique, but a family of canines, friends, companions, for sure. Wish I could have more as well, but I don't have the bandwidth to do that at this point. Slightly overwhelmed by handling the two dogs I have now. Lot of work but worth every minute.

Again, great pack. You are blessed as are they. Good on you and your lady.

Both have checkups tomorrow at the Vet. My call to do so. Curious about Bear and his 14 to 18 cup a day eating and still ideal body index. Only 19 months old, but please!

Take care Brother! Jerry
