Re: Ornithology (Bird) Thread
Maggie and I love birds. Up north we had nesting pairs of orioles, red headed woodpeckers, ruby throated hummers, along with cardinals, robins, meadowlarks, eastern bluebirds,, blue Jay's, red bellied, downy and hairy woodpeckers, barred owls and the usual wrens, Titmice sparrows etc.
Down south we have lots of bluebirds, carolina wrens, mockingbird, sparrows, crows, pleated and red bellied woodpeckers, towhees, flycatchers, mourning doves, Jay's, cardinals and a few more we haven't identified.

A few weeks ago, we had several pictures of some of a Great Egret and a couple of Little Blue Herons feeding in the overflow at one of the farm ponds.
Maybe one week we'll get a good picture of a Great Blue Heron. Treefarmer

The Blue Jays I feed recently started bringing their newest addition to the family around. Not quite all blue yet, lots of fuzzy grey and sketchy, won't come in close like the parents. But I still got a shot of him/her.

Re: Ornithology (Bird) Thread
Guys,
I am attaching a photo of a very colorful bird and the photo was taken in my daughters yard. She lives about 35 miles east of here in a newly acquired home.
This bird is much more colorful than any we have here and I have no clue as to its identity. With that much color I assume it is a male and I also assume the other bird is a juvenile.
If anyone knows the ID on this beauty please help us out.
Ray

Been trying to catch this barred owl for weeks but he always seems to elude me when the light is still good. But the other day I got him.

Which begs the question,
Who, who, who cooks for you?
I'm sure you've seen the plan for them to be shot as they are crowding out the spotted owls.

Bitter Lake north Seattle. Ducks and geese coming up like they're used to being fed. Lame pics, but bald eagles hunting from the light poles in the park.
