KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY

I carelessly ordered a knife thinking it was U.S. made. Well, the brand was Valley Forge. Evidently there is a similar valley in Pakistan. Anyway, my impression was that while the the finish was a bit crude, the knife came super sharp and is strong enough to endure just about anything other than a direct predator strike. Maybe even that.

Her is my Cheetah that I sent to Bradford Plant and got repairs done. I am trying my camera skills out so I thru in a couple of extra things to see how it would turn out.So drool over my Cheetah.

Mike...your Brother had very good taste in knives...I think the earlier Puma's were some of the best hunting knives produced in Germany.

Wow QS, that is one fine lookin' knife there, really like that one. Cool blade selection, the wharnie and a coping blade, that's a combo ya don't see every day.

This knife has been sort of the Holy Grail of family knives for the hunters in our family, and it recently turned up in my brother's gun cabinet and has been passed on to me!
This was my Grandpa's small game hunting knife that he always carried in the pocket of his old heavy duty hunting jacket...all of us have memories of him skinning squirrels, rabbits and coons with this knife (Grandpa was a pretty legendary coon hunter 'round these parts)...then touching up the edge on the grinding wheel in the workshop (hence the sliver of remaining blade)....
I've never seen another one like it, but researched it a bit (including a thread on aapk over in the European knives section) and was able to find out the following info....

It is Sweedish Barrell Knife, made in Eskilstuna,Sweeden...either made by or imported by a company called Jernbolaget.
The AJW stamped next to the Jernbolaget indicates that it was most likely produced by A.J. Westersson for import by Jernbolaget.
A.J. Westerson produced Sweedish Barrel knives from 1889-1905.
The handles are made of Curly Birch, and the knife handle measures 4 1/2 ".

So needless to say, I am thrilled to be able to add this knife to my accumulation, it joins the other family knives I've been lucky enough to be trusted with, and will be passed on to generations to come as a reminder of where we came from, and days gone by!

Picked up these two today if anybody has any info would be helpful the stag handle says solingen and the other one is a harrison brothers cutler makers to his majesty,and the inscription on the outside of it reads,presented by Colonel &Alderman Sir Charles Wakefield Guildhall,May 24.1913

I think it wouldn't be too difficult to find information on Sir Charles since he was a peer. Would be an interesting effort.

Yes I looked him up very interesting one of the things was he founded Castrol among doing or being other things.

Found this 1998 Case Mini-Copperhead today. The main blade has a "Limited XX Edition" etch (hard to see in my photo). In the store I thought the knife handles were greenish in color, in the house it looks greenish, but outside in the sun it has a blue-gray look - can't figure that out yet. OH

Once had a car that changed colors like that. Usually was green but at night under certain kinds of lighting it became blue. The paint color was called Polynesian green. Just an unusual mix of pigments I guess.

Not too shabby though a little slow on pks some of the ones I have found this week were too rough for the price but I did find these from right to left the first three are John Primble kitchen knives and then my second SA Dagger in about a week this one a little rougher and thentwo 8dot case kitchen knives i picked up yesterdayand then a little knife cant make out the whole name but what I can read says ings werk solingen germany and then this nice gerber portland oregon and the second picture nice little hammer brand i got earlier in the week through ebay and third picture a little ka -bar I picked up yesterday with the two case kitchen knives.

all the knives had a fine coat of rust, from being in the barn, in a can.
