Thanks for the support and understanding of overpaying for the collection - I justified it by (at the same time a 2OT was up for auction) not winning the 2OT - It sorta worked on the Mrs.

A post 2004 "new world" Schrade from China. I have only two post 2004 Schrade knives, a scout pattern that was a gift and this Bowie that I purchased out of curiosity. I'm not a big fan.

Thanks Mustanger. You're right, this is an early one. You can see the reflection of the serial number under the model if you blow up the pic. The serial is 7600. I was lucky to find it in a little thrift sore near my house. It's pretty minty too. I have an LB8 also, and a mint LB7 with wood scales. They are some great old knives.

I am seeing this a little differently and I could be wrong, as I so often am. I believe that the first LB-8s had LB-7 blades in them because they did not yet have the LB-8 stamped blades yet. If this is true the op knife is an LB-8 with an LB-7 blade, not vice versa. I would love to hear from someone who is privy to the actual story.

From everything I was able to research TR, the earliest LB7's came with either wood or staglon. But, what you say makes perfect sense also. I'm with you,
it would be nice to find out the real story.

Anyway, they are all great knives. My faves are the early 4 pin 'sawcut' Old Timer 7OTs with non-stainless blades but I do like them all.

This week I just picked up a 6-OT (I don't need it, but the price was TOO good to pass up

) ... I think it was called the "GOLDEN BEAR", and they started making them in 1995
