I guess I am not close enough to the "scout knife" collecting area to know what this blade is all about.

I just bought this Imperial Scout and I am just a little confused about one of the blades.

The seller never showed a picture with this blade open BUT.... from the views I can sorta tell it is all there.
The blade in question looks like this.....

Is that supposed to be a can opener?

Anyway....

The stamping dates from1930-36...

Yesterday afternoon, I added this pocket knife to my collection. It is a CAMILLUS (1047), 3 blades, a swelled center, white handles, a long line tang stamp, no pattern # stamp, 3 5/8" closed, Boy Scout "whittler" pocket knife. This is only my second CAMILLUS (1047) that has white handles. It did need some very minor cleaning. But more importantly, there are NO CRACKS anywhere on the handles. I took some pictures and here it is.

That is a very good looking 1047. A very good find especially without a crack near the thin end next to the shield. Congrats!!

Hey everyone!

I am wondering if y'all can help me on this scout / camp knife.

All I have seen so far from the sellers pics is "MADE IN USA" on this guy.
It is fairly nicely made and has bone covers.
Recon this is a SEARS knife?

Recon who would have made it?
Maybe Camillus?

I am not familiar with a WWII Engineer's knife characteristics.
When I get it in hand, is there things I need to look for?

Mike That was the common design of then. If it has steel Liners that is a give away. I'm not home right now so I can't look at my book.

I will have to wait until it arrives before I can make the call. I have looked at the sellers pics and none of them give me a good look at the liners.

I have seen sellers ads that say a knife is a "Corps of Engineers" knife...... but I have never been able to tell if it was just in the imagination of the seller OR the real thing.

Further study is afoot!

I searched through the All Scout Knives thread and did not see another example of this same model knife, so I finally have something to contribute.
This thread is one that convinced me to join AAPK to begin with!
Bear MGC 5-blade Official Boy Scout knife in carbon steel. It has 4 dots, so if I read the charts correctly it was made in 1996.

: Mark side

I bought it in a bin of Seconds at the factory sale yesterday for around $10. I am not a huge fan of black composite, but I do collect Boy Scout knives, and have wanted a 5-blade version. There were a couple of minor rust spots that had started, which a #2 pencil took care of in seconds. The blades have great snap and are all centered perfectly with no rub. The only problem with it becomes obvious when you look at the pile side...

...and discover that it doesn't have a pile side! Someone mistakenly put two mark-side scales on this knife!
I am debating whether to fill the empty hole with black epoxy, a MOP dot, or just a blank round shield.
Whichever I choose, this is a unique flaw that I can live with in my collection.
