That look's like a keeper to me Jack...along with the rest of your herd..
I don't know were GEC get's it's stag from, but they are using some good stuff.
They have been doing a good job lately of matching up the handles on their knives.
I've been carrying a 72 in frontier bone and I love it... ...I got a few genuine's
around...I'll see if I can round them up for a line up.

How did yall like the (1) blade trapper and the cattle knife that came out,the last few days ???

pretty,but not my style---still liking the lockbacks,and I'm thinking of a three blade stockman,----and the funny thing is ,I really like that ""Beaver Tail"" shield ---------oh well so many choices,so little time____________uh,I meant,so little money, boy____them beans wuZZZZ good tonight

I prefer the traditional 2 blade trapper. I'm waiting for one in stag, although I'm considering one of the club knives at the moment. Unfortunately I blew my allowance on the LB. GEC is certainly giving us a lot of choices these days!

Well Jack good luck stoping at 10...I kinda lost count..but what heck I may die poor and hungry but I'll have some good
trading stuff to take along...
I do like the genuine stag without the shield's, but the burnt stag is nice too...and the second cut...and the....well you get
the picture. There are a few I don't have yet, but I'm working on it...

Hello to all. I've been enjoying AAPK and member topics for months and have finally registered for membership. I too have the GEC "addiction". As spare time allows, I make pocket pouches to protect my EDC "selection for the day".

I've included the link below highlighting some of my handiwork if you care to take a look. Included are a hodge-podge of Bokers, GEC's, Queens, S&M and a couple of fixed blades.

So, are you taking orders for your leather goods?

I appreciate the comments. Yea, if I had more time and tools I'd love to dabble in leather goods ..... just not enough spare time to get my own stuff done.

Well guy's I pulled the trigger again...more than once...a pair of Mink's in stag and a amber bone.
They are pocket friendly and I like the blade's...but they are weak in the backspring department.
Not much snap open or close...I guess I'm spoiled with the 23 and 73 pattern. Any thought's on this,
I guess a note to GEC would be in order.

Those are nice Bob. A GEC knife with a weak back spring?????? I've never heard of it. I don't own one in that pattern though. Is it just weaker than other GEC knives or is it weak weak?

Aimus, On a 1 to 10 scale I'd give these a 4 to 5...not what you would expect in a GEC.
I don't know if has to do with the size of the knife and springs or maybe the design......

Don't know about the springs, but nice looking!

I just received my first GEC mink skinner, and I'd have to say that the springs are nothing like the 73 or 25 patterns as far as strength, but they seem to be on a par with their whittler. I wonder if it has to do with the blade/spring thickness, as they have fairly thin blades. All in all, I like the new pattern and don't have any issues with the spring stiffness; it is more like what you normally would find in other companies knives.

Dang it Bob, I wasn't quite quick enough on the uptake and you got #7 before I could. Oh well, I gotta nice'un! I'll post picts later.

Bob, those are absolutely gorgeous! Three is definitely the charm.

I especially like the genuine stag without the shield.

Jack, I'm sorry if I took your knife...it was a tough chose, they all looked good.

BTW...I talked with GEC and they said the thin blade and backsrping was the reason
there not real snappy.

That's OK Bob. I'm pretty happy with these three I rec'd last week. The 72's are getting hard to find. The #6 mink skinner has some of the gnarliest stag of any of my genuine stags, and #17 is a nice contrast. I still like your #7, though.

Got my MInk last week. My second GEC.

This one immediately got sharpened and put in my pocket. It's a nice slim knife and I've really been enjoying it. Sometimes I just take it out and admire how nice it is! I had never even heard of GEC until I came to this site--you fellers around here are dangerous to a man's wallet.
