Peshikthe, your S/W trapper looks good. There's just something about that pattern of knife that is real appealing to look at or handle. ::tu:: Bull

Gino, I may be wrong (happens all the time) but I don't think the Hammer Brand is stag. Looks like stag jigged bone to me. Still a very nice knife and I wouldn't kick it out of my accumulation for eating crackers in bed. :)

Sometimes they're so good at it, it's hard to tell if you don't look close. If I see any regularities in the material, I'm suspicious.

I am not sure Gino. ::shrug::
I know if it says USA on the tang stamp it definitely is an Imperial.
But without the USA, it could be Imperial or NYK.
I think we will have to see more NYK Hammer Brand tang stamps.

Got a pic of one single blade timber scribe/rase knife. Tang is marked on both sides. I think there is a difference in the sleeve and hammer that will seperate the NYK and Imperial. If I can find it I will post it.

I came across a guy with a stash of these. He dosent keep them on his tables, he keeps them hidden in a box underneath. I always ask sellers if they have any folders and well he did. He claims his dad worked for Remington in the 80's & 90's.
He is at the flea market every other weekend. I bought these two knives out of everything he had and he is gonna bring more in two weeks. He just had stuff from the 80's & 90's but its a mint in box. He had nothing older today but we shall see in two weeks.

I thought Camillus made these using the Remington name?? Any one know for sure?

I think you are right.
The sleeve and the arm is different, though the list on Imperial stamps (that I have) has a couple different ones.
I think Gino's is made by Imperial.

I agree with Dale. The stamp on Gino's fixed blade is the second gen. 1938 thru 1944 Imperial stamp.
I posted pictures of the Hammer Brand stamps (including NYKC) in Knife Lore.

The handle material does appear to be deep jigged stag on these knives.

Here are some pics taken with a microscope of the handle material used on these fixed blades.

Stag or Bone?

::dang:: I do believe you are correct, Miller Bros`
In the first pic, there is a concave area that is consistent with the hollow "marrow" area of bone.

More observations please, MB

And in the end shot, you can see the "vein" holes, as you can in the side shot, so MB is right again, bone.
