Carved with my Case seahorse whittler. A different design wood burned on each side.

Simple cross with a little v-tool work. It's a simple but satisfying carve.

Definitely catches the eye. Well done.

Thanks I used a Flexcut v-tool on this one for the beard. Knife works on the rest of it.

Very nice little spoon, Scott. One of the nicest one's you've ever did. I like the wood grain in this one. That's a soup slurping spoon if I've ever seen one.

A couple new carvings I'm working on. I did the green man of the woods with a Case seahorse whittler and v tool and the next one I challenged myself to use the knife only. Going to add colors to the second one.

Those look really good. I'd like to start whittling/carving one day, but I'd probably wind up with an unidentifiable object and a dull knife. Might you have tutorials available, or perhaps suggest a good one or three?

Thanks. U tube is a great source. Look up Doug Linker, Gene Messer, Jack Loring Carves, I'd suggest you get a cut proof glove and a leather strop to keep your blade sharp. There's a number of carving clubs in Michigan that would be a great help to you.
If you're going to try to carve with a pocket knife, most Carver's will advise against using a pocket knife and advise you to get a fixed bench knife like a Flexcut brand or Occt brand, you will need to rework most all pocket knife edge to a thinner convex edge to make it a good carver. Most carving is done with a warnclife or sheepsfoot style blade or custom self made grind. Learn to make controlled cuts to minimize the chance of cutting yourself. Push cuts, stop cuts and paring cuts and v cuts. If I can be of any more help let me know. I don't how close you live to me but I could show you a few things if you're not to far away. I live close to Charlotte Mi.
