Nice knives boys I picked up a Craftsman and a Buck 317 finally at the fleas..

The Piranha's that Monk has been posting are just too cool......well, I looked at them too long and couldn't seem to get off the Blade HQ site without snagging one. Found the site very easy to use and they even have a "Check or Money Order" feature so that you can complete an order easy as pie, no need to email and ask them for the favor of holding the knife, like on some other sites.

Grabbed these 2 just now and the Pawn Shop.......Gerber 925 to replace my Bro's that he lost about 20yr ago...
And a Colonial Pilots Survival knife I guess, never hand one of these in hand before.....it's a HAWG!!
Gave $30 for both, they had $29.95 on the Gerber, so not too bad for around these parts.

I got $50 or 60 for the last one that I had.

Today and tomorrow there is something called "Flea across Florida", a flea market from Lake City to Pensacola on US 90. Way too many places to stop and look at every location even in our county. Vacant lots, parking lots, shade trees all had piles of stuff displayed. One place we stopped a man said he had a box full of knives and on inspection he had a box full of cheap Pakistan and Chinese, new knives, that had been wet somewhere along the way. Diggging through this awful mess, I found two old, very much abused USA made knives. We were able to rescue them for $5. Haven't cleaned them up yet, but did oil the joints and they still have some snap. They are sad looking old knives but at least they aren't spending the night with rusty imports! The Camillus camp knife seems to fit the 1946-56 tang stamp and the old Ulster, I don't know about. It is a TL-29 type-electricians knife with all steel bolsters, liners and even the liner lock is steel. It has wooden handles but appears not to have ever had a bail. Treefarmer

Phil -- That Camillus should clean up nicely, there doesn't appear to be any pitting. The blades appear to be fairly full and that two piece can opener makes the knife previous to 1951. The knife wasn't in the 1948 catalog so it's most likely previous to '48. The pen blade secondary identifies it in the 1946 catalog as a Navy and Coast Guard General Utility Knife (bottom knife in the picture).

I seldom see that tang stamp. Excellent find my friend.

Thanks for the info Jerry. Since the Camillus was a Navy knife could they have also been a Marine issue, seeing how I remember something about the Navy as we recited the "chain of command " 49 years ago at P.I.?

Here are the results of last weeks hunting around Sheffield/ Doncaster and Newark. Nothing perfect but two that are particularly interesting to me. I haven't found much for the last 7 months or so. A real dirth of collectable knives and getting beat to death with other peoples wallets at the auction houses.



A small Brooks & Crooks wharncliffe whittler. It has some damage, nail nick broken out and a hairline crack in the pearl and pepper spots but is unused.









A two blade jack knife with two instruments under the scales.I haven't gotten them out yet and there are some moth nibbles in the horn but it is a name I haven't seen before. J.WAIN Sheffield.
