All About Pocket Knives

Nice sleeveboard, Eric. Lots of pocket time, not much on the grinding wheel !
Further to that electricians knife, I am way off base. Several companies made them, including Case and Schrade!
I got Mike Silvey's book "Pocketknives of the U.S. Military", and he's got pics of several. It's one of the truly great knife books! I hadn't read it all yet, but I am working through it now!

Here are a couple new additions to the schrade family.

I picked up 11 of these last week, all NOS in the clear boxes. Unfortunaely, I have to sell 10 of them to make up for some recent spending


Picked these two Walden era florist knives up yesterday at Kenton annual coon dog trials, they have a big flea market there, took over 8 hours to walk it, all found close to 2 dozen knives, only a few schrades. One is in really good condition, it cost me $8 the other not so good, cost me $1 (This is why I rarely buy on ebay anymore )



Got this ulster camp knife, I think this was the one for the price albert offer? Or did it have an old timer shield? CRS kicking in again. No pits, just some light surface rust that I rubbed off with oil and steel wool. Never sharpened

Nice haul there MM! That cell florist knife is real nice, kind of looks like burlwood. For a second there I thought it was one of your re-handles. Flea markets around here rarely produce anything decent, even the one in Ellenville .
Here are a few more peachseeds, all stockmen. In the first photo the top one is actually an old John Primble belknap Hdw. & Mfg Co.. Looks very Schrade-like, but it has steel springs (black as coal now), and machined liners. The third photo I've posted elsewhere before, but figured I'd pop it in with the others- Schrade Cut. Co. marlin spike, has the ghost of an etch that says "S. Appel and Company" over "New York and Miami".

Man you guys are killing me with your fantastic finds...Kaleb now I know why I don't run across the super vintage greats you find. We don't have any Coon Dog Trials going on in our area..

And Eric, thanks for adding some peachseeds here; nice stockman collection. They look so great in that bone. You are spurring me on to go after those stockmen I mentioned previously. You will have to visit me in debtor's prison!!

MM the camp knife used in the PA offer has a Old Timer shield.

thanks everyone, yes it figures, oh well, just one more I still have to look for. See the other 11 you say? Well, here you go along with 9 160OT's NOS and a lightly used little finger. I forgot, not all 11 were whittlers, one was a razor blade stainless stockman

thanks everyone, all bought from the same fella who's deceased brother in law had a sporting goods store.

We had our monthly knife club meeting today, and I came up with 6 knives in trade. Four Schrades to show off here, a near mint Robeson stockman, and an excellent plus Remington Doc's knife. It's always fun to get different knives, and cash to boot!! All for one (nice) knife! I'll post the other knives in General Discussion.

I just recived this Schrade TM 2 1983 traper-miner line lock.

She is my first in the TM 2 Schrades, but Iwould like to see if any one has some like this.

I looked in the research but did not see any TR's

Any info on this would be nice.

I recently aquired one of the two blade trappers "LUMBERMAN" mine also has no etching on the blade, I understand all the originals had blade etching? In the photo from Larry's web site you can just make out the etch on the center knife.

SCHRADE CUT CO . I like this one!!

Here's a couple.Not in the greatest of shape but a little unusual to me anyway.

First is a Schrade 120T single blade with liner lock.I think the T is for TINY

Next is a Schrade Walden 808; another tiny one.

Last is a Craftsman 9547 Old Crafty which I believe was made by Schrade.

I just finished photographing a bunch od stuff and was going to post a few in the Stockman thread.

I picked a few knifes to post today which are not to often talked about. While that is one reason the other reason is because they pose certain light shadow ect problems in taking pics of . Well usually I guess no real problems but today is the first time I am attempting to post pics with my new camera ( which I had mentioned ). So I decided to use some of these. As you will see the pics are not great but since I do not understand half of what this thing is capable of I guess they will do for a first attempt. These are for the most part Schrade Walden gold or gold wash gents knives. The one automatic is 2,7/8" closed so that should let you judge the size of the others. These are from a display I have in the house along with a framed copy of the well known esquire ad for these which appeared in 1953. I included a pic of the ad and a pair of the molds used to make one style of these. I included the embossed larger Schrade cut ( on the right ) since I got it not to long ago and had not put it away but also because embossed Schrades ( especially in gold wash ) are very rare in fact I cannot find a reference for this particular version. The main pic of all the knives seems to show them dented but for the most part that is shadow from my bad photography and there brightness. I have many more of these patterns however most are in other handle materials and in displays more difficult to access. So I decided to keep this posting at a managable number and try out the camera at the same time. This is an open display so you will notice an abundance of cat hair. Notice the one knife with the hidden key . I always liked those oddball versions. Like the perpetual calendar ect ( which I also have but did not want to dig out right now ) It is in a 1910 heavy glass display Schrade case and it is Christmas a time of spiked eggnog so I thought it was better not to mess with it today. Here is one with the Schrade Walden stamping that is interesting for two reasons....one, it has the original cellophane wrapper....two, it has genuine STAG handles. Pattern number os 757. I have not ever seen stag handled Schrade Walden knives in the 1950's catalogs but I have seen a very few in person.

The smudge on the blade is the original factory oil!!
