Yeah it's the wood thing. It's also known as a thumb piano. The metal spindles are like keys. They stick out over a sounding hole. I salvaged it one time thinking it might make a nice instrument for my kids, but I discovered that it's a bona-fide hand made grown up instrument. I'm as musical as a worn out sharpening stone, but I still find even my simple tunes to be relaxing because the rich melodic tones it makes sound really pleasant.

Good to hear from you CxIII ::handshake:: ... I heard on the news today it was 14 degrees in Tennesse, so I'm glad to hear that it is warming up out there where you is 🥵🥵🥵 ....
Well, ::hmm:: I was out quail hunting a day or two ago and it was 83 degrees out here in the desert ....And, speaking of heat... ::hmm:: The Curling Stones, when left out in the sun, 🌞 can absorb a lot of heat, ::paranoid:: so you have to be careful handling them ....

Well get back to that curling rink and find yourself a hotty with a body. But curling a stone is child's play. A lady likes a man that can handle that broom ::tu::

Hey buddy, I hope you don't feel I was insulting your Kalimba, I just didn't know what else to describe it as. And I am familiar with it, not first-hand, but I've seen them before and didn't know their name then either. Now I know what to call a thumb piano when I see one again! I'm certain they make a very nice sound, so keep-on enjoying yours! ::handshake::

I for one am not tired of viewing your knife, Gino, a beautiful folder like that deserves lots of coverage!
It sounds like you are definitely in the "Comfort Knife" spirit when simply being around your knife makes you feel good. That's the theme of this entire thread, so I'm glad you caught it. Read my original post on page 1 for a description of what I consider knives that bring me comfort, you'll read all about yourself. ::nod:: I don't think it's weird personally, nor do 141 some pages of others who think the same, but I know what you meant! ::hmm::

Living in Canada, how could I possibly know anything about the slow and boring sport of curling, Dog, you must be slipping buddy, it's only our national sport! ::facepalm::
So you're telling me you have curling stones to heat-up in the desert sun, to do what, slip them under your mattress to stay warm like a Dutch Oven? ::shrug::
And wouldn't it be easier to borrow someone's professional curling jacket or T-shirt instead of lugging heavy stones all the way to the rink to impress chicks? ::shrug:: I was never very good at picking up girls, and now that I'm more seasoned don't have any desire to do so, all the more for you young dudes! ::tu::
I sure hope you get that I'm yanking your chain, Dog, everything you said makes sense in one way or another! ::handshake::
