There are three reasons for this; you are not registered and/or not logged on, the board administrator has disabled private messaging for the entire board, or the board administrator has prevented you from sending messages. Contact a board administrator for more information.

They will remain showing in your Outbox until the person you sent them to reads them.....but they are 'sent' and the other member will see them in his Inbox when they remember to look.

Picked up a Schrade 51OT "Big Timer" on eBay. Price was right. Tang stamp was "Schrade", not "Schrade+" but lo and behold, it's definitely stainless. My understanding (could be wrong) is that the did a rolling transition from carbon to stainless in the few years they made them. Still, a little tang stamp clue would have been nice.

Thin enough to pocket carry but man o man, what a blade! Makes the old Buck 110 seem like a scrawny kiddie toy.

My most recent baybuys. Im learning fast to recognize blades that have met the coarse grinder. Theres some real shysters on there, with lots of undisclosed features like Blade Wobble. I returned one Russell for that reason, this one does not wobble. Interesting comparing the two Barlows pictured, the Russell has so much more beef to it



both tang stamps were in use til 1933, the year Prohibition ended.

Having fun watching the handles change in response to Mineral Oil baths.

That's a really nice Cripple Creek.

The pickings for the last year+ have been really slim. The last three weeks however have been surprisingly fruitful. I've already chucked the junk ones into the discount bin for the next knife show and put the good parts knives into my rebuild stash for if I live to retirement and this is what's left. A couple of real gems mixed in and the rest just decent users.

IH,guess 2/3 of your actual haul are either parts knives or crap.I counted roughly 70 good ones,so you acquired 200 knives in just one year.To me you look like a bizzy little buggar.

I'm getting better at avoiding lots that are more than half junk. I got 400 knives in one lot one time that was about 2/3 junk. Hard lesson. I should have skipped work, gone to the auction and bid hard on the other two lots with the good knives that day and got all 800. It would have been a much better deal for me. I barely broke even on that mistake when I sold what I didn't want to keep.

Went up to Atlanta this past weekend for a grandson's baptism and on the side roads of Georgia I was able to pick up 3 Case knives that are good EDCs. Got a 1978 Trapper in good condition, a 1997 63087SS that still has the factory edge on all 3 blades and a 1974 "modified" Moose. Apparently a broken blade led to the warncliffe looking blade . Have been looking for a 6275 for a while, this one will do for now . These knives were in antique/junk shops where I followed my wife as she was looking for "green glass" items.

Good pick ups Treefarmer, can't go wrong finding three old Case knives on a road trip! I like the looks of that modified wharncliff on the 75, you got yourself a one of a kind there!

My buddies and I went to breakfast this morning and then did some running. We just happened to be out near the local knife store, Tom's Cutlery, and I suggested we stop. He still had this Bulldog whittler in 2nd cut stag (edit: I've been told it's actually "stag jigged" bone ) so I made the same offer I made the last time I was there. This time he accepted so I brought her home with me. The first thing the little minx did after I got her home was bite me. She's going to be a good one.

Jerry, I wasn't going to tell it, but being as you decided to man-up and report, guess I will too. Installing some cabinet knobs Tuesday morning - the sheepfoot got me when I snapped it closed - I'm a more careful man today! OH
