Well, after that beautiful Russell I guess I am slumming but here it is. Seller thinks it possible that it was a gift to her Dad in December of 1946. Otherwise, soon after.

I sure wouldn't call this slumming. Beautiful set

I’ve just perused the last few pages. Y’all are showing some of the finest fixed blades I’ve ever seen.
TR, I like the looks of your slums!

Great looking set tr!
In the first pic shows a number 965 on the box lid. Do you know if that is the model # for the set?

So this isn't nearly as cool as the Kinfolks, but I just completed a little fixed blade kit that's been in my knife box for about 5 years. It was a kit that I picked up at the Blade Show. Stainless blade, linen micarta scale blanks. It took a lot of shaping and sanding. Epoxied and pinned the handles.I wanted the scales to look like wood, so I sanded them with 220 grit and polished them up with some carnuba wax. Now to get to work on a sheath..

The thistle knives are very nice. Most have wooden handles that someone had to carve out. I have a Henry Sears with a molded (bakelite?) handle.
