Got a dandy going on in St. Louis. Bottom of the 9th, Cards and Brewers tied at 1. Started out Burnes versus Wainwright. Burnes lasted 7 innings and allowed 1 run, Wainwright has completed 9 full innings giving up just 3 hits, and a run, 8 strikeouts and a walk. Gotta love those pitching duels!
Interested to see whether Wainwright comes back out for the 10th. With 2 out in the 9th and McCutcheon coming up the Cardinals players gathered at the mound for a conference. Cards skipper Ollie Marmol came out of the dugout and joined the gathering. No one appeared to acknowledge he was even there. They broke up the meeting and Wainwright got McCutcheon on a routine fly ball to left.
Ken
Edit - Wainwright done for the night, Gallegos in relief, Brewers got 2 runs in the 10th. I hate the ghost runner “Manfred man” rule. Cards only get 1 run in the bottom half, Brewers win.

Cards 1 - Cubs 0, Rangers 2 - Twins 1. My kinda baseball, and my two favorite teams both won! Happy camper here, at least for a day.

Albert Pujols Won that game. He may be getting long in the tooth but he's still a very dangerous hitter. 42 years old and still knocking them out of the park.

He’s amazing. I read earlier today his OPS this year is highest since his last stint in Saint Louis, higher than any time with the Angels. May be an anomaly but makes you wonder what could have been, had he never left. Just needs 7 more home runs to reach 700, with I think ~ 40 games remaining to do it.

Congrats to Rangers' outfielder Adolis Garcia on being first in MLB this year to reach 20 consecutive game hitting streak last night. In the process he also stole his 20th base to go with his 20 home runs so far, making him a 20-20-20 player. 20 home runs, 20 stolen bases, and a 20 game hitting streak. Not too shabby.
Speaking of 20s, the Rangers are the first, and so far the only team in MLB this season with four players having hit 20 or more home runs. If they only had some pitching………………

Cards sweep the Cubs, Pujols hits home run #695, and Milwaukee loses. How sweep it is!
Bravos looking pretty good tonight. 4-3 over the Phillies. Just one game behind the Mets in the East. Looks like it could get exciting going down the stretch.

I bet that’s killing the NY media “elites”. Saw an article earlier this week by one of them who was all excited about the possibility of a “subway series”.

Ken the Braves have a little bit of history for sucking the life out of the Mets right there at the end. We'll see how it goes.

Jerryd if the season ended today we would be the first wildcard in. It sure would be nice to get another division pennant though.

Well boys we're getting down to the brass tacks here. Braves and Mets all knotted up in 1st place in the East. 5 games to go with 2 against each other. It just doesn't get more exciting than that. The Braves wind up the season with 3 games against the Marlins. Got my fingers crossed.

Cubs can't even get a ticket to the playoffs so I'm rooting for your Tomahawk Chop boyz, Greg.

We need all the fans we can get Jerryd. I saw an ad on the internet where the the Marlins have invited all the Mets fans to come and cheer for the Marlins in those last 3 games.

Looks to me like y'all are in the post season regardless of how these games with the Mets turn out. That said, beating the Mets pales by comparison to the taking of the division.

WooHoo Bravos move in to first place with a 4-2 win over those dastardly Mets. 4 games left.

I'm anxious to see how the Mets pan out in the playoffs. Not a Mets fan but I do like Scherzer.

I’m sure within the next few days the New York - centric media will go bonkers when their darling Aaron Judge breaks Roger Maris’ single season home run record. I for one am not so sure. Consider the man’s minor league stats. 0ver his minor league career (2014-2016) he had 1403 at-bats - over which he hit a combined grand total of 61, count ‘em, 61 home runs. The most in any one year was 19. The Yankees call him up in 2017 and he hits 52 homers?
Count me a skeptic - I’m not buying. JMO

Looks a little fishy doesn't it. You don't suppose he might have found a long lost footlocker once owned by Barry Bonds chocked full of goodies do you?

I'm still hoping the Reds don't lose 100 games. Could they still get a wild card spot? ftd

I think players are "regulated" to the point now they could tell what they ate for breakfast last week.

The Nats are looking great for the first draft pick!
Another Strasburg or Harper maybe? Even a guy like Harper adds excitement.
