All About Pocket Knives

Boy, yes they did Trevor! I don't know that I would stop using the phone pics just yet! Everything is clear and easily seen, details are there too! I say try some different knives and I'll wait here.

Thanks Perry!!............here is another one I just tried, this is the best of the 5. Definitely need more light, most angles are just too dark. Going to keep at it, see how it goes........

I don't know Trev, your pics are better than mine and if you need more light, whatever you do don't screw up what you've already got! Excellent!

IMBand - very nice photos. As Perry says, very clear detail. Your phone must have a very good camera in it.

Regarding the light, for me nothing seems to equal natural light, either direct sun or indirect sun. The window of my man cave over the garage faces west, and I get my best photos when that late afternoon sunlight streams in the window. I noticed that Roofsc photographed his elephant toes outdoors and he did capture some fine fire in that MOP.

I struggle with trying to get the angle that brings out the detail and also avoids distracting reflections in polished metal. These two photos were taken just seconds apart and with a very small angle change.

Trevor, your pictures are light years ahead of mine. I have to fiddle with mine to get them to be even halfway acceptable. I use a program similar to Photoshop (except it's FREE). I messed with your picture some to show what the program can do. I think the picture is just a little bit better but that's just my opinion. Am I just fooling myself? Your honest opinion would be appreciated.

You are fortunate, if I only was able to take photos when it was partly sunny, would only have a few days a year to take them...... ..........kidding aside, I agree that natural light is best if you have it.

Jerry, I think that pic was improved by your editing. The pic I posted wasn't terribly short on light but the other 4 photos I took of that knife were quite dark, the phone was very sensitive to the angle at which it could shoot a decent image. Just a bit more light should help out imo.

Trev, your doing a great job with the phone pics. That's the only way I have
right now to take pics, myself. However, mine don't come ot any where near
as nice as yours.
As mentioned, the angle of the light while using the iphone is tricky to say the
least!
