Ike,
Do you know if California has the auto tax hike on gas like our fine state. The reason I ask is could we possibly find ourselves at the highest tax rate?

I do not know, but I remember some point in the last few years when Illinois was at the top of the list for all taxes combined.

The gas companies are ripping off the American consumer.

There is plenty of gas at the refineries in Texas, they sent many ships full of oil when they ousted Maduro never mind our own domestic capacity.

No need to raise the gas prices this quick, our oil doesn't come from the straight of Hormuz.

The prices you see are all about corporate GREED ::td:: :x

How can gasoline prices be regulated:
1. Direct government subsidies - as in Iran, Oman, Qatar, UAE, Venezuela, Ecuador, Nigeria and Libya.

2. Reducing excise duties and VAT: This is the fastest way. The state gives up part of its tax revenue to lower prices at gas stations (often used in the EU during crises).
3. Price Ceiling: The government sets a maximum amount above which it is illegal to sell a liter of fuel. However, this often leads to shortages and a black market.

4. Export duties and quotas: To stop the export of cheap fuel abroad, countries impose high export taxes. This forces companies to sell more on the domestic market, which lowers the price.
5. Nationalization is the last option - the state becomes the owner of both the well and the pump.

Which option do you choose? But, my friend, trying to screw up market mechanisms by the state never leads to anything good, I'm telling you from experience, I've been through it. In the end, it is paid for - with taxes or with freedom.

All of the Circle Ks are at $4.45 that is about standard around town. At Speedway Express & AM/PM gas is a little bit cheaper. Southern Arizona used to be the cheapest or one of the of the cheapest in the country a few years ago. Now it appears to be just behind California... :x

$3.41 a gallon at several places here today. Heard a so-called expert today say it will be cheaper in a few days because the price of crude oil has gone down. We'll see if he knows what he's talking about I guess.

And I thought that the contrast between Illinois and Kentucky gas prices was bad.

California, Southern, Inland. $5.199/gal yesterday at Costco for Regular, credit. A nearby USA Gas and the 7-Eleven were $5.389/gal cash. The Chevron across the street from Costco was $5.79/gal cash.

If you like those prices, you'll likely have a chance to vote for our govornor for POTUS in 2028.

The better half paid 4.39 at the Costco closest to home.
This morning at the Costco close to work I paid 4.49.
At least I go to work one day less a week it doesnโ€™t offset. Itโ€™s good for my attitude having three day weekends.

I expect the bottom to drop any time, filled all my mower gas cans at $3.34 a gallon that should bring the price down. I've been using gas that I bought last year at a buck ninety two. Let that soak in a minute it brought tears to my eyes. ::handshake::
