All About Pocket Knives

Had to go to Dothan, Al. for some items today, so Miss Joy said we should check out an antique mall for green glass and such. She found a crystal duck and another piece of crystal for a wedding gift but I found an Uncle Henry Schrade+ over U.S.A. 285UH . It looks like it had maybe been carried but never sharpened. There was lent in the well. Got a few scratches and small rough spots on the blades.

Working in a new town I found a flea so I gut me a Imperial trick knife and a Electric mate.

Had to go out of town today and stopped in a little shop on the way home and rescued this one. A Van Camp Hardware, Indianapolis. Who do you think made this one?

Saw the name Van camp Hardware on a very long list of contract knives that Camillus had made over the years.

Spent the week on the road field testing an improved joint compound. On the drive home from Fayetteville yesterday afternoon, I stopped at a small town pawn shop - found two NOS knives, still in their boxes; a Buck *111** and a Schrade 106OT. OH

I found this Case Sod Buster at a local flea market. It cost me $12, and it has a snap like a beartrap. The blade has a little wear on it , but seems to have a lot of life left. The man who had this display said it was a 1980 XX which has 5 or 6 dots on it. I think I got a good deal on it! It has a number on the back side of the tang, #2137, ftd

What would be the best way to clean off the tarnish on the blade to bring out the etching without removing it? Thanks! ftd

Another yard sale find:

Meriden Knife Company. Mother of pearl handles. 2 Stainless pen blades. And I believe a 10K gold bail. I'm not sure about the liners but they look like gold as well. Gonna have to bring it down to get it tested. (EDIT. It's brass)

OH, that 111 is SWEEET!!!

Nice find Rex...I am developing quite a liking to mop knives just lately and this one seems to have some real nice character. cheers

OH, I like your Buck 111.

Dale (Orvet) sent me a Buck110, last year as a gift - until then, my knife collection was mainly Schrad knives. KG.

It's been a cold winter up here...sheesh. This my latest haul...from around the world - from POS's, give aways, to nice stuff...this will keep me busy for a while (hours of playing, messing around and cleaning). Aside from a couple, everything is either U.S.A., English, German, Spanish of French (I even found a douk douk lol ).

Thanks Gino...I love doing all of the research on-line after picking up a bunch like this. I'm not much of a tactical knife guy, but I think the German PRT X was a diamond in the rough, and after I cleaned up that little Kershaw, it looks and fires like new. cheers

Lawrence I too like reasearch and cleaning them up.I did OK this week also picked up a Scharade UH 152 a 33ot one sweet jack and a 102 fruit knife by Schrade my first.

Thanks Trey, it caught my attention right away so I had to have it. It's a Pallares Solsona, a Spanish knife. Not sure whether the handle is plastic or some kind of horn, and it's got a nice carbon blade on it...a friction folder. Check out their web site
