Do you feel good about that pitching staff? I like Brady House and Lile and a couple of the other young hitters, but I would feel uneasy every time one of those starters takes the mound.

The Brewers have 9 players on IL.

They got clobbered by Pittsburgh last night.

I saw that, better days in Pittsburgh, Penguins in the playoffs and Pirates have a roster of promising young players.

Yankees winning on the field, Rangers winning in the stands.

If I ever make it to Globe Life Field, I have made a mental note to refrain from taunting the home fans.

I attended the damnYankees at Rangers game today. Didn’t see any fights, but it was a very good baseball game. A pitchers dual, tied 0-0 going into the bottom of the 6th. The Rangers eventually won 3-0.

I don't worry about the Brewers getting swept John , but I wish it would happen more often.

Saw an example of the new ABS System downside while attending the Rangers/damnYankees game yesterday. The Rangers’ Brandon Nimmo led off the inning with a walk. The next batter worked the count to 3-2. On the next pitch Nimmo attempted to steal second, the home plate umpire called the pitch “ball four”. Nimmo, then a few feet from second base and hearing the pitch called a ball, pulled up and trotted into the base. But the catcher threw the ball to second base, where the fielder caught it and easily tagged Nimmo out. Since it was called ball four, Nimmo did not need to slide - the walk forced him safely to second case anyway. The batter dropped his bat and started toward first base.

But wait. The catcher challenged the ump’s call of a ball. ABS replay subsequently showed it was indeed a strike (ball barely touched the strike zone). Okay, so the batter is out on strikes. But what about Nimmo, who now was standing, apparently safe, on second base?

The umpires convened, talked it over briefly, and decided Nimmo was out also. Strike out, throw out double play! Or was it? Would Nimmo have slid safely into second base if the umpires convened had not called “ball four”? He stopped running and did not slide, so was easily tagged out. As a result of ABS review overturning the “ball four”, he was called out by umpire decree.

I agree. It’s a consequence of the ABS System. I’ve since been watching what the typical player’s response is to a ball 4 called while they’re in process of stealing. Slowing down seems to be SOP at least for now. Wonder what will happen if that changes, and runners have to go all out, slide, and get injured in the process.

I don't think ABS is in any trouble. Tyler Stephenson, Reds catcher, doesn't hardly want to challenge . I've seen plenty of balls half in the zone without any challenge, when they were obviously strikes.
I know he doesn't have the advantage of the box, but it seems much more than that
Reds are finally showing their true colors, young starters , lucky bullpen, and an anemic offense. The worst hitting team in the majors since the start of the season.

So, Humberto Cruz who signed a $750,000 contract with the Padres back in 2024, self deports to Mexico for attempting to smuggle in 2 people for $1,000 each.....because he needed the money! He is 19 years old and most likely just threw away any chance of ever pitching in the big leagues.

Is anyone else looking forwars to the Spencer Jones debut this week, or does the fact that he is a Yankee dampen any enthusiasm for seeing him?

He sounds an awful lot like a Dave Kingman type, but Kingman was fun to watch. I hope Jones can perform well enough to stick with the big club, even if it is the Yanks.

Thank you for your concern.

Being more of an NL fan, the Dodgers.are the team that I most want to see fail. I don't get too amped up about rooting against the Yankees until the post season, unless they are playing the Dodgers.

I got a long distance shot of Busch Stadium when checking out the Gateway Arch. We also passed KC Royals Stadium when arriving and leaving, but I was driving. Might as well through in a picture of the Colts' Stadium for good measure.

I recently saw an article comparing Jones to a young Aaron Judge. All the typical New York hype, but given it’s the Yankees there’s probably something to it.

Color me cynical, but I’ve always been skeptical about this from Judge’s record:

4 years and over 1300 at bats in the minor leagues Judge hit a total of 57 homers (three years combined in AAA he totaled 28). First year in MLB with the Yankees he hits 52 homers?? Only in New York is that not curious. But he’ll no doubt be a first ballot Hall of Famer.

Maybe. I will give him this much though - he’s a pretty darn good defensive outfielder. And he sells a lot of jerseys to Yankee fans.

We went to the Royals/Rangers game tonight. Sellout crowd. It’s the first weekend after most schools around here are out for the summer, so that probably helped sell tickets. But many if not most were there for the baseball uniform jersey giveaway promotion. It is a replica of the Rangers’ Nolan Ryan “bloody lip” game jersey, when Nolan was hit in the mouth during the second inning by a batted ball off the bat of Bo Jackson. Nolan never left the game and continued pitching, with a bleeding lip, into the eight inning. The real game-worn jersey is at the MLB Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.

Here are pictures of tonight’s giveaway replica jersey, and the real deal.

Oh, the Rangers won 9-1.
