I don't know about other collectors but I became a collector of Colonials because of you.
I was checking out the Colonial forum and when I found out you were posting, I knew that Colonials were the knives I wanted to collect.
Where else can you get first hand info from someone who was there, manufacturing the knives?
I know I speak for many when I say "thank you for your input". ::tu::

hi Bob, belated HB
I thought that extra rivet/pin at the butt end of my 2902 Electricians knife was for a missing bail, too bad one handle is cracked but it is very stable
that is why I added a similar knife by Wards with a bail and no crack, just for comparison

Thanks Gino...if there is one reason for me to set up a both at the NCCA show in May is because of guys like you. Your from NY and you already said you'd come down to Conn.
just to see me. I don't think you understand how far a statement like that goes with me.

There are many very close friends of mine like Joe and Scott that will be unable to attend because of finances...Guys like these mean the world to me and even if they are unable to attend, the love and repect they show to me is worth a million trips and shows......

Gino, you are falling into the catagory of favorite people in my world..... ::tu::
Betta' watch out!!! I have a bad habit of spoiling my friends and a few guys here can attest to that....talking with you the other night was a treat for me, by the way..

I am going to contact my friends at the NCCA and reserve a spot for May, THAT'S IT!!
I will display my Colonial collection, sell some books I hope, and have some giveaways...
All protected by my other close friend, Mr. Sam Colt.....got that right....
Have no fear... Bobby P., CKCo.... ::nod:: ::nod::

Hey Bobby....no need to apologize. :D
I'm up to the "Casting and Plating" chapter in your book. Your book is a good read and it's quite informative.
I must find myself one of those Corvette knives. I've never seen one on the net....are they rare?

So sorry to hear about your loss. It's scary to hear about someone passing away that is 4 years younger than I am. :(

don't know if anyone showed a colonial picture knife yet
I started a thread for cheap and or souvenir and some of these may go in both places
my early collection is mostly poor condition or cheap/ souvenir so don't take offense and I can take a joke so laugh away

another souvenir knife that is a Colonial and one marked Providence cut co?is that made by Imperial or Colonial?
I am going to put more of my souvenir/cheap knives in that thread
tang marks like ideal/ambassador and USA, but I think some may be Colonials, don't know
see you there I hope

Here's a bit of history folks...the second pic showed by mickeyevans is an incredible find I have not seen in years...From my book..:Grandpa's brothers Domenic and Anthony formed
Providence Cutlery Company in 1917, and this little oval shaped baby is at least that old.

You my friend, own a piece of real history.... ::ds:: ::ds::
Don't ever sell this little knife..unless t's me...

great to hear that Bob, I will post photos of the other side, looks like Spokane, but it was hand written, looks like someone did it with a magic marker.
I will also check to see how I got that knife, believe it was in a group of 'cheap/souvenir' knives I started this obsession with. that is why I started that thread.
seems to be poor form to quote prices here, so I won't, till I learn some more manners

hey mickey!!!
not arguing AT ALL/OR tryin ta call ya out....... JUST WONDERING...
YOU SAY : "seems to be poor form to quote prices here, so I won't, till I learn some more manners"

why does it seem to be poor form to quote a price or what you paid for a knife?????

i have never ever seen issues with that here at AAPK(been here years now)???????
thats the only reason i ask......

I agree, I have never found it poor form to quote prices for what you paid to get a knife. Folks might give a opinion but its all friendly as far as I have ever seen. ;)

Ok fellows, it is just me then. I have wanted to name amount I paid so more experienced members can let me know how I am doing. especially since I am limited to ebay mostly, got the two club knives for AAPK and a couple from sellers here
I grew up around gamblers and now lotto players and I always hear when and what they win, and my Dad always said, 'do you notice they never tell you what and when they lose'. That is where I got it in my head that it was bad form to 'brag' about a good deal
Just making sure I keep this the classy site it is and still have fun and learn and make friends with mutual respect

It's all good my friends!! ::tu:: ::tu::
People of all walks of life have found treasure's and have not realized what they found!
This becomes especially important to me and many collector's who have nothing but
questions about old Colonials, so here I am! Doing the best I can to give the most accurate and honest appraisal to the best of my ability. I have done pretty well so far.. ::pray::
::nod:: ::nod::
If anyone finds an 80 year old Colonial and they paid 50 cents for it, FANTASTIC!!!

And while it's true there are new knives that will do any cutting needed....
Getting an oldie for a good price is satisfying in SO many ways!
Not having ANYTHING to do with this thread when I got this Imperial for 50 cents I was STOKED!
Been a handfull of years ago now.

Either someone was testing a felt point marker, or someone gave a customer
from Spokane, Washington a few toys or even one!! ::shrug::
It's still very old and valuable for that matter..
Nice find!!
Even that Imperial Swiss..looks about 40 years old! ::tu:: ::tu::

Nice pair Bruno! That # 44Y on top was always a great item for us. Inexpensive and
durable...This Barlow type full shell knife was neat cause it had a full edged liner/shell and
could hold a good size printable Celluliod surface! I'll remember this stock # eventually..!!

That's really something!! ::doh:: ::teary_eyes::
There is lots of inside info I can elaborate about items like this but I choose not to say much of anything right now....
All I can say is if he decides to sell what he has and what daddy kept for him, your going to see THOUSANDS, AND THOUSANDS of Colonial's of many years,,,,,
Mark my words...THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS, AND THOUSANDS...YOU'LL SEE.....

While all this "self" collecting was going on with all the owner's, THIS is what I was TOLD
to do because I was using a couple of hundred parts every YEAR....
You tell me the SIN involved here..my own family, my own business, my birthright....
HERE'S THE PROOF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you imagine taking home 2 grand a week and forcing me to pay my own company....
For parts???? ::shrug:: ::shrug:: ::shrug:: ::doh::
