All About Pocket Knives

Here's my Cattaraugus Barehead Swell End Jack.

That is some pretty bone Wally. Doesn't look to have any pocket rub done to it. Nice knives Ivoryman, red bone is probably my all time favorite. JohnR the Shapleigh is pure knife porn I am having hard time not looking at it every day. lol Here are some barehead HOKS. A well used Marshall Wells Zenith, a well used Robeson, and an unused Robeson.

Picked up this Shapleigh DE 3 5/8" jack this week, good condition, pretty sure Schrade made. Also new picture of ebony 4" Walden Jumbo Jack.

Nice John - that Walden jumbo is amazing at 4 1/8” ...

Really liking the Walden John. Very cool.

Wow is that Marshall Cool. Beautiful bones, exceptional, and nobody is making them like that anymore. Cool knife and same with the bone Robeson with a spear. Thanks for showing and the compliment. Man that Marshall. Can't say enough about it. More pretty than almost all the new knives I've seen in many years.

Tight snappy 'ol Norvell Shapleigh bare head with some nice bones in my book. Never could figure out the exact age, but it's older than me.

That is a nice knife Ivoryman. Doesn't look like it has spent much time in a pocket. Everything still looks crisp, even the stamp.

Thanks luckydog, I feel privileged to have scored it. And last one stamped Depend On, Met Cut Co, N. Y. is right up it's alley and cost me half as much. Such a steel steaI I cannot tell you. But it goes good with the Shapleigh and seemed to fit the thread. Happy surfing to all.

Wow, there are some great photo's of some great knives on this page. Only have a couple of bare heads but I sure like them.

Great knife bestgear and a rare stamp.

Corso, about the Cattaraugus knife, I think it was made for cockfighting, the saw was used to take off or shorten the spurs I believe. The knife is early before Cattaraugus started making their own knives. Many say the mark indicates that it was made in Germany but I'm not totally convinced of that. I have a few marked this way, without Little Valley NY on them. German knives usually, not always, have steel pivot pins and this one does not. Most of the others I have don't have steel pins either. I just got one from ebay last night with the same stamping and as soon as I get it I'll post pictures of it.

Probably my oldest Cattaraugus. 3 5/8 inch wood bare headed long pull half stop with straight line CATTARAUGUS CUTLERY Co. LITTLE VALLEY N.Y. Any opinions?

That's a real nice knife, Jacknifeben. I don't think I've seen that stamp before.
I wouldn't know about the age.

That's a nice little knife. I have one that is quite similar to yours. I think yours is in better condition.
I'll dig mine out tomorrow. What is the length of yours?

Its a shade under 3" closed - I've been after a sheffield boys knife to compliment my GEC #14 for quite some time

I'd like a couple more - another of these in wood or buffalo with the third being the same but 3.25"

but honestly i'm hoovering up any Rodgers knives i can find at the moment
